I was surprised to receive a PM from a moderator on the subject of my signature.
I very much regret offending anybody, and would not set out to do so, and for that I am profoundly sorry.
I accept that you have removed the artwork from my signature.
I understand that we are all different in life, but I am equally concerned that anyone should be offended by a photograph, of a piece of art work, which has been on public display for visitors of all ages including school children, and that the piece involved is neither pornographic, nor depicts cruelty to humans, or animals alike, and is made of rubber. (It's a puppet!)
I cannot understand why the moderators have decided to act as sensors for such an item.
However, I repeat.... I apologize for showing the piece, but not for the content, which I see as innocent fun, by a credited artist.
For those who are interested, here is the link....
Hi Charlie boy, have to agree with you, never noticed it before and now looking at it I can find nothing what so ever offensive about it. Another example of the PC world we live in perhaps?

I dont know if I could actually call it offensive, but I can't deny it turned my stomach Not to the tune that i would have bothered reporting it tho''
Just different tastes I suppose.

Not being a mod I'll leave such rule upholding matters to them, but I wouldn't want any signature of mine to be so "in your face" that it undermined the post I was making, nor would I wish it to be a distraction in the thread.
The content and size of your desired signature (I did see it when it was "live") would risk both IMHO.
Nothing wrong with it otherwise. I remember Ben (of Ben & Lizzie fame) showing me a "similar", well vaguely disturbing, actually, graphical picture of a distorted human being. It turned out that it was a creditable scientific picture with the distortions showing the density of nerve endings in the male form. I'll leave the rest to your imagination. Once I understood the origin I was much happier, which contradiction rather fascinated me.

The usual reason for something to be removed by a mod is when other members complain about it. As Zaskar states we all have different tastes and on MHF we try to cater for all but there has to be limits.
Quite a few people complained about the picture. Art of this nature is always controversial, some find in envigorating, others distasteful.

However, such complaints would be better directed at the gallery organizers for allowing thousands of school children to file past it.
Which gallery are you refering to and I will keep my children away from it. On a different line these galleries are shameful, they carry controversial work like this so that people will complain in the hope that it then attracts them publicity. Did anyone here understand the Turner prize going to a white sheet of paper or a pile of bricks etc?

My mistake here, which nobody has asked to explain, is that I thought the section Sig Testing was just that. I was working toward massive reduction etc. But what I was not aware of is that it removed my original sig, and replaced it with the pig photo in every other post I have made to date.
If I had been aware, I would have removed it before leaving the site.
My mistake.
But I still don't appreciate censorship where a request would have done.
I am not unreasonable, or unapproachable.
I have pondered this deeply, and I honestly would have appreciated a PM directly from those who complained, direct to me, rather than making complaints to the moderator, about me.

While I don't think the pic is that bad - mearly a shock at first - I think the mods are just trying to keep everyone happy. Something which is impossible to do. I wouldn't have asked you to delete it but I've seen far worse online - besides isn't your pic art?!
