Has anybody ever come across a step by step guide to hooking up and unhooking when towing a trailer. Just got my smart cAR trailer and think I managed somehow to more or less squash the jocket solid tyre flat when I unhooked it .Think I've damaged it. Must be doing something wrong! Complete novice!
Trailer company were ok but too many instructions for a dimwit like me!

I used to struggle a bit and sought the assistance of anyone in the area! Now, I can couple up single handed - A frame to motorhome.

Is it squashed flat? or has it dropped when towing and worn flat rubbing the road surface? Cannot see how weight would flatten a solid wheel.

The weight of the trailer had the solid wheel squashed flat
It hasn't been in contact with the road when travelling. The trailer firm hitched it for me! I just had prbs unhitching and manoevering. It seem like the "worst shopping trolley syndrome. Jockey wheel no help in steering ! (as it was squashed flat most of the time...lol)

Sounds like the rubber compound used for the solid wheel is too soft for the weight of the load on it.
I use rubber sheet and order it in by the hardness, I use it for rubber gaskets, hardness of rubber is called Shore hardness.
You may need a harder rubber on the wheel. You can get different hardness for industrial truck wheels.

Have you lowered the jockey wheel using the clamp or did you use the winder handle on the top of the stem tube, most jockey wheels have 2 slots in the base of the tube which help to locate and hold the position of the wheel during travel, if and when it is free of these 2 slots it will rotate 360 degrees without hinderance and should allow you to manouvre the trailer in the direction you desire. As you mentioned it is flattened and no help in steering I suspect that the mechanism is in the lock/travel position, simply wind the handle to allow the wheel to drop clear of the slots and you may find it will be a lot easier to move the trailer
