Looking into getting a safe.
Was wondering which is safer - electronic pins or keys?
I thought maybe the pin system could be overidden by some kind of hand held device (thiefs can do anything these days). Would this be the case?
Also worried about picking locks. Which would be safer?
Also where do you bolt it? Under the chairs and through the floors? If this is the case do you bolt one up and one down - so you cant get all bolt off from underneath the van?
Sorry for my ignorance! |

Yes if poss. bolt to the floor. Key is best as one always has the habit of writing down the number.

lol i doubt i'd write down the number - and if i did i probably wouldn't stick it to the safe
But seriously do safe actually work or is the average motorhome intruder a wizz safe cracker? |

Electronics best no spare key left lying around but any safe is better than no safe.
I don't believe the average chancer thief would bother taking the time to find and open a small safe well fitted safe.
Key or electric surely the point of installing safes is to make it difficult for the scumbag thef |

Hello there,
Ours is the digital type. It fits millimeter perfect into an area in our MH that hides it in the double floor void.
To be honest it is uncomforatble and awkward enough to get things out with a key.
I would say a safe is a great idea, by the time they have breached the alarm sensors and set it off they then have to find the safe and decide weather to rip it open or off. I think they would probably give up for fear of being discovered.

| Just bought a key operated safe from Screw Fix £15. It fits perfect under the seat on my Fiat. Bought a key operated one for the simple reason even the elecronic one have a key over ride, in case something goes wrong. So you need to have the key somewhere just in case. |

| Does anyone know if the Sentry 110 floorsafe is fireproof. If not is there a fireproof bag that can be purchased to enclose important documents etc & put this in to the safe? |

| Yes you can ge a fire RESISTANT bag to put in your safe. I think it's called NOMOTEX or something close to that. We got one for our home safe. These bags resist fire and can be used to protect documents etc. We bought it from a security shop. It was not expensive. |

I picked up a fireproof box from Woolworths yesterday. Its Honeywell branded, very heavy and seems very secure. It should have been £39 but I picked it up for £12.
I have a safe in the van but thought this would be very useful for things like vehicle registraton documents, insurance etc. I have a spot for it that people will not find easily. |

Hi Rightz We have a Electronic One but you can take the key pad off if the battery goes flat and use the key. I think we got from argos it is just the right size to fit next to our water heater. You drill through the floor put coach bolts up with the nuts in the safe. We went for that one so we all have the number in our head and can open it with out looking for the key! We have a key hidden it puts your mind at ease. Our Laptop camera video recorder log book ect all fit in it. Just makes you feel better when you leave the van.Good Luck Bob. |
