Hello folks, after seeing the 2007 photo comp entries, I have been smitten with the enhancing bug.

Now there is no way in the world that I could afford to buy the 'Photoshop' software complete, but, is there any software that can give the same sort of results, I don't need head swapping facilities, just picture enhancement.

As opposed to the full version of Photoshop there is a version called Photoshop Elements which allows most of the manipulations of the full version - certainly all you would need to edit your own photos and more.

It's still about £70 I think BUT you can use a free 30 day download off the Adobe website to see if you like it first.

To use it to the full I would recommend taking a Photoshop course at your local college.

Can’t afford photoshop ?
Before moving to Scotland we had a lecturer attend our local photographic club, before starting his demo he enquired,
“who has photoshop 5” ? a few hands were raised,
“ who has photoshop 7”? A few more hands were raised ,
“who has photoshop CS2” many hands were raised,
final question from the guest speaker
“and who has paid for their copy of photoshop”?
as you might guess few hands were raised but many red faces.
It might be worth joining your local photographic for the wealth of knowledge on tap regarding photoshop and composition.

Hiya, Google Paint.net, it is a free programme and before I got the proper Photoshop I used it all the time. It has a lot of the features of the expensive programmes, you can use many different effects - even stick on different heads if you want to!.

It will offer you free updates and there is a web site you can visit to learn how to use the different features with easy to follow turorials - give it a go!

Sandy
