I've messed about on the roof for ½ hour & had to come down 'cos it's dark (I hate winter). I didn't succeed in taking the old LNB off, but on reflection, I may have missed something pretty basic. I was concentrating on the Oyster housing on the roof and unbolted it, hoping to access what I assumed was the connection between the (thin) LNB cable and the (thick) cable which runs down to the van. As I made no progress, I put it all back & came down.
HOWEVER - is it the case that the LNB has a socket on the back, and all I have to do is unscrew the cable there? If so, I've been slightly moronic.

By way of further update, I fitted a quad LNB and got the stacker working (with a little signal degradation) on the Sky+ receiver. However, it would not find the satellite when I retracted & then auto-seeked. I backtracked and refitted the single LNB, but it will not find with the stacker either.
I can only conclude that the stacker is good for receiving (& therefore fixed systems) but no good for auto-tuning.

who went out their way to help me on some calls I made to them this morning (I had a motor switch problem into the bargain).
James (jp) is coming round tomorrow, so we'll have one last attempt at a workaround, otherwise the stacker'll be back on eBay & I'll have to run a second cable after all.

I do remember one of my customers having a problem with his oyster when connected to a dreambox, turns out the oyster needs the right transponder signal to be sent down the coax in able to find the satellite it needs - turned out the customer had his dreambox on a hotbird channel (and hence hotbird transponder frequency) when he was looking for astra2. So it must need a transponder signal from the box to find the right satellite. Im not sure how the stacker works, but surely it must still allow transponder signals to be sent to the lnb, otherwise how would it swap from vertical to horizontal??

It sends the LNB1 signal at one level and the LNB2 one at another (hi/lo). It then puts it back together at the other end (Destacker). I tried the LNB1 feed out the destacker & into the control unit, and then the LNB2 after that didn't work, but no joy. The Conrad Anderson tech said the same thing as you about having to recognise the digital signal, so it must be interfering with that. It obviously doesn't interfere with the polarity signal though, but I think it's down to the signal degradation which is ok for the receiver but not ok for the control unit sensor.

No Difference, however, do be careful when installing the new twin LNB, your dish may not close properly. In which case you may need to make a mechanical re-adjustment.
