Hi, I am newbie to the site and wandered if anyone could help with a bit of a problem I have with my sat system I have just installed, the Kathrein is a dual LNB system with the ufs 740sw receiver to control the dish and access channels ,it also has an lnb loop thru output ,that is were my problem starts, this is my story:
I have set up the main lnb lead from the dish and connected it to ufs 740sw and the ufs 740 connected to tv via scart/scart ,the other lnb lead from dish to a sky digi box, everything on the ufs 740 and the Sky digibox is fine when tuned to astra 28.2. but when I take a lead from the IF output on the UFS 740 to a second digibox and connect to tv with rf lead ,then I put ufs 740 in standby, I can get the sky epg and can select channels ,but when I select a channel it says no satellite signal being recieved,
even though it says no satellite signal being recieved ,if I go into the setup menu it shows signal strength at threequarters across and quality seven eigths across , and OK, ooo2., 07d4
I have tried taking the the main lnb lead out of UFS740 and fed it direct to Sky digibox but the result is the same .even though it says no satellite signal being recieved ,if I go into the setup menu it shows signal strength at threequarters across and quality seven eigths across , and OK, ooo2., 07d4
The main LNB lead seems to operate the UFS 740 perfectly but will not operate Sky Digibox ,the other LNB lead works the Sky digibox fine , I just want to run 2 Sky digiboxes,
Would appreciate any help I can get ,
Regards

Hello Grandadbaza,

Who did you buy the system from? We are the UK distributor for Kathrein and the CAP 900 is an excellent piece of equipment. The problem you describe is caused by the way you're connecting the SKY receivers. Basically, you can't connect 3 receivers to a system with a 2-output LNB.

Please contact me and I or my colleague Mark will confirm the situation to you.

you cant get output from the IF to another box, you have to use a direct feed from the lnb . sat tv is not the same as terrestral tv . conect a direct feed and it will work

Hi Andy, thanks for that, I bought the system from SatEuropa.co.uk, Idont want to run 3 receivers at once ,just use the kathrein one to position the dish and then use 2 Sky digiboxes, so I can watch my sky sports and my wife can watch her soaps and films, Sateuropa contacted Kathrein about the problem and they said it was a faulty Lnb and sent me a new one which has not made any difference, the master LNB feed will not operate a Sky box weather connected thru kathrein box or direct from dish, as I am now at a loss as what to do next I would appreciate anything that you can do ,or if there is something you can supply me to enable me to run 2 Sky boxes

Regards

Baza

Hello Baza,

I'm checking with the technical people at Kathrein and I'll let you know when I have an answer.

Bear with me!

OK, I've checked with Kathrein and I'm afraid that what you want to do can't be done.
Sorry!

Hi Thanks for your efforts Andy, to solve my problem would it be possible to fix another LNB to the top or underneath the existing LNB so when the main LNB is set to 28.2 an additional one is set to the same, running the cable would be no problem to me ,if you think this is possible could you advise on a suitable LNB to do the job

Would fitting a quad LNB as fitted to Sky Plus systems help ?

I don't know if it would work but you should be able to pick one up for not many pennies, might be worth a bit of experimentation.
