which as you may guess is aimed at the "more mature"

Do any of you use any social networking sites? Please vote and then tell me which ones you use and what you think of them and the service they offer.

Do you think that MHF is a "sort of" social networking site? Where not only can we exchange information about our motorhomes but we can interact with each other online over our everyday thoughts and events.

Is that a good thing or bad?

If it was possible should this side of MHF be expanded?

Mike

Hi

I would consider this as a sort of socialising site as much as an informative place. After all, we meet up on meets etc etc.

I do not use Facebook or anything similar as I have grave concerns about ID thefts etc - some users have dates of birth, photos and all sorts plastered on there. How easy would it be to fake a driving licence etc with a bit of know how?

I visit Facebook BUT only because my Son is travelling and posting a lot of piccies on there etc.............I don't like the way so much personal info is posted on there, and also find it a bind when you have friends/family that are linked to you and they post stupid things on what is called your 'wall' today I deleted two chain letter type posts from my wall.

I think there are plenty of other ways to be in touch emails and forums such as MHF also PMs of course and much prefer this type of forum.

I'm afraid I didn't have a clue such a thing existed until nuke added those little colourful thingys at the top of each page. Still none the wiser Rolling Eyes

Dabbling in the forums of MHF will do for me.

Pete,

I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Motorhome forums and a few travel sites is about my limit.

I thought I was doing well booking doctors appointments and getting repeat prescriptions on line.

There is the thought that in a few years perhaps a couple of years emails will be so clogged up with spam that they will be finished as a comms method so more and more will be done on social networking sites.

Fact in November 2007 72% of all email traffic was Spam (Source Symantec)

Well first off I did not say that I would wish to see it expanded to become a "fully blown" social networking site ... as I am happy with it as it is but in this modern world you do have to keep up with what is going on around you. The buzz word on the internet at the moment is "social networking" ..many people are joining up to sites such as Facebook...200,000 a day I believe.

Maybe one of those who use one of these sites will come and tell us why they use them... I know that I have friends and relatives that are well "into it" ...they are hooked by them ( who am I to criticise I am on here too much Laughing )

So now my turn... I will ask you ...do you use a social network site ...do you know what they offer , do you fancy it ?

If you do then you would realise that those who frequent MHF every day are already networking online via MHF and those that rally are networking for real

I know that the good folk who write the open source code for PHP forums are working on features that include the sort of things that are found on Facebook... I was interested to know what others thought about it.

Mike
