A new innovation here on MHF is the ability for you as members to rate a thread/topic

At the bottom of all threads there is a new section for rating a topic, you simply choose a rating of 1-10 (10 being Max), note if you make a mistake you can come back and modify the rating in the same way)

The ratings are shown in the root of each forum section i.e. the page for each forum section that shows all the threads within it, there is a new column between Author and Views which shows the Rating (If the thread has been rated)

See this thread in

for an example where I have rated this thread as a 10 Smile

The idea being that once the initial furore of rating threads dies down that members will rate the useful and informative threads accordingly, I will endeavor in the future to add functionality to see the top rated threads on MHF as well Smile

Enjoy

could you not add a redirect so you don't have to click the link to get back to the thread once you've rated?

Thats Ok ...you can go back and alter your rating...which is a good thing as some threads start off well and then Rolling Eyes ... and others that are iffy to start off can come good Wink .... try altering it and see what happens.

edit: and I can see why ... I just did it too Embarassed the click box is too close to the drop down Laughing

Excellent addition Nuke

I will ask before others do. Can we have a negative vote?
-1 to -10

Hi Steve

Yes indeed, a neat addition to the forum.

BTW. Has your truck eaten something it shouldn't?? It seems to be in a lot of pain. Shocked

Joking of course - nice one, especially the lights. Now, what about a dubious message in Morse? That would give us something to do during this bloody awful weather.

Cheers

What about making the default other than '1' I have checked several threads and most that have been rated have at least one '1'. I guess either by mistake or someone hates MHF threads.

Default should be "0" It will be a good system, but only if members take the trouble to use it and use it sensibly. Even if one or two don't and if the majority do, ratings should even out? That reads a bit gobbledy gook but hope its understandable.

Why not remove the default entirely? The Option Button groups won't work if there's no pre-determined default, so that would obviate errors.

ADDENDUM:- It does default to a blank setting, which if selected (Dave) gives an SQL error. FYI.

Dougie.
