Thinking of getting a remoska for the van. Bit short of space so was thinking of getting the "Baby" of the ramoska family. Do people think that would be big enough for 2 people to cook up the usual stuff? Maybe a couple of jacket spuds, a pizza for two etc?

Thanks in advance,
Steve

Hi Steve

In a word, No.

Get the standard size, and consider the trivet for it as well. You can always put a bit less in a bigger one . . . . .

We were thinking the same as you, storage space in the van etc, but the lady at Lakeland advised us to get the standard (middle sized) one and she was dead right.

Brilliant gadget, which will be used in the kitchen at home as well as in the van I'm quite sure. So versatile, but take no notice of cooking times in the recipe books. Lift the lid and prod with a knife to see if it is done - most things take between 45 minutes and an hour from cold.

Speaking of books, the new recipe book with the ring binder is brilliant. You could also try this (icon below) if you like a cross between cheesecake and bread and butter pud.

Hi Steve

We have had one for sometime now and I agree with Dave, you will need the standard size for two people. They are so simple and basic, but they really do work, and use only 3Amps of power, so are excellent when on low amperage hook ups. Very Happy

I would suggest that you use the stated cooking times as a rough guide only, as it's all a bit "trial and error" for the first few times. Use it a few times in the kitchen at home to practise before taking it in the MH.

Hope this helps Wink

Len

Or coming from an idiot - could you use it on 12v with a 80w attachment thingy?

or just the mains?

I agree with everybody else, get the Standard size for two.

We've tried a lot of the recipes in the ring bound book and they've all been delicious. As has been said the cooking times are a bit optimistic if you like your food 'done' decently.

We use the Remoska 2 or 3 times a week indoors and managed to cook their Coq au Vin for 4 in it a few weekends back - delicious.

Forget the inverter.

Herr Ohm with his very handy Law comes into play here.

240V @ 3A = 720W

720W divided by 12V = a helluva lot of amps, 60 of them to be precise.

Don't even ask whether your 100AH battery will cope for an hour - it won't.

Ramoska = mains.

Many thanks pippin.

I guess I should really find a dummies guide to all this. How is it possible to remember so little from school?!

Hi Steve - definitely the standard size for 2 people. Actually I find everything takes about an hour give or take a couple of minutes. Agree the new ring binder book is a must even if the colour pictures are a bit bright!

Rightz - look no further - this forum is the dummies guide. Answers to anything and everything on here Laughing Laughing Laughing
