I've sent an enquiry off to Hymer but as yet no reply so can anyone out there help please? Oldtimer 1983 Hymer S660. Next to the rear gas heater, opposite the loo and shower room, low down by the rear bed support panel there are two flat electric plastic rocker switches which when thrown switch off the hook-up feed to the 220v ring. They must do something else other than that as there wouldn't be two of them, would there?!!! Does anyone know? I remember the owner saying something about them (my german was about as good as his english) but by the time I got back to blighty the instructions (albeit half understood) had long since gone from my grey matter! That said I think he was referring to something about the leisure and engine batteries if that gives anyone a clue. But not really certain. Rolling Eyes

Hi Newsbits, if the second switch is a 3 position one (centre OFF) then it could be that in one position all the 12v electrics run from the leisure battery, fully the other way all the 12v electrics run from the cab battery and the centre position works the 12v electrics if the 'charger' is on. Of course if the charger is on when switched to one of the other positions then the battery connected to that would receive some charge as well. If you don't have a charger fitted then it's likely that it just switches between the 2 batteries as I suggested above.

Thanks Phil, I will have a look and try and figure it out. I actually don't know if there is a charger fitted although before I drove it home the owner had the van on hook-up I think to charge the battery/batteries. But I have to say that's a guess. That said I can't see why he would have left it on hook-up other than to charge the system up ready for me. What will the charger look like and where might it be tucked away? Every little helps. Best regards, Phil (newsbits)

Hi Phil, My charger is under the false floor in the wardrobe just above the leisure battery, easy access, some are fitted under the seats, if you dont have a handbook then a search is called for. With mains hook up connected you could try a voltmeter on the battery terminals and see if it goes up when the mains is applied. But if you have a charger and it is switched off nothing would happen. Laughing

Hi Phil,
Our charger is also in the wardrobe (nowhere near the leisure battery). It's mounted on the floor and is covered by a blue metal box (I'm not much good at guessing sizes but probably about 6 x 4 x 6 ins.) with ventilation holes. There's a plug and trip switch set-up next to it.

Hi Phil, The switch you refer to on my S660 is a two position unit. 1 is for mains charging. 2 is for charging from the generator.
