From what I am reading it appears that it is not the choice of vehicle at the moment under consideration but how and where Dougie and Von can get the finance to pay for it.
Not knowing their ages/ income and assets it is difficult to further advise on this subject.
What I would suggest is that they contact an Independent Financial Adviser to ask what possibilities there are of raising a loan. I have spoken with mine today and his comments were that finance companies are often more ready to give loans to people on certain benefits as they know the borrower has a regular income as opposed to another who may not know if he will still have a job in a week's time.
He also suggests that if the borrower is a home owner a loan could be raised against the value of the property.
If you want any further assistance Dougie and Von please e-mail me and I will contact my Financial Adviser for answers to any questions you may have.

Also if a VAT exempt vehicle is sold on within 3 years of registration a proportion of the vat has to be repaid.
Where did that information come from Bigfoot?
To illustrate the inconsitencies of information the info was from a Motability dealer.Though he was not referring to Motability vehicles.

on the subject of this
you will not find a dealer that will do this as scheme only applys to cars 4x4 mpv and some vans
my partner has a mobility mpv and we lookrd into this
at great deal we also spoke to motability about this and they said no no no
as motor homes do not qaulify for tax relef from goverment
so sorry we tried several times also there is issue of advance payment
and most motor homes are over 20.000
and the threshold for a vehicle is 12.000 wihout advance payment
but the higher spec car you choose the more the advance payment would be
the only option you have is to get a loan from them
but they will only loan up to 10.000
so its unlikely you coulld find a camper less than four years old
for that
as they wont give you loan for vehicle for anything less than that
and other people have tried without sucess
as thier attitude is motor homes can not be used for daily use
stupid i know but thats thier thinking
sorry not able to help
