I have scoured the web and the forums for opinions and best options using a mobile phone or pda whilst touring Europe. Out of all my findings I have come across a company providing what I consider a fair deal?
See: http://www.0044.co.uk/
Have a look and I would appreciate any comments from any present users.
I intend to use it on my Blackberry 7290, not a laptop connection using a Datacard.
Thank you in anticipation, Brian.

We use a variety of devices to make calls. Last year we used ONEROAM mainly but have concluded it is now no cheaper.
1) The roaming tarriff for "Three" is 10p per minute to receive calls. 25p to make a call so we ask people to phone us.
2) Bets deal this trip is to use a SKYPE WIFI phone. The one we have is a year old by SMC and just does WIFI, but works really well on unsecured and secured networks with a key. Landlline cost of SKYPE is I think €1 for 100 minutes? It seems to go on for ever.
3) Sign upto FON to have access to FON WIFI sites when not provided on site. A lot of Spanish sites offer WIFI for free.
Regards
GUy

We have a French sim /a uk / and a Spanish sim . pago. costs us nothing if family phone from uk , as we only ever put 10€ on them, its cheap.
we rule the phone . if we phone from home we use Internet we have free uk calls. In fact if I could bin the phone I would. Mobile phone operators have had to cut tarifs and more cuts are coming in by julio. just buy a sim from mobile phone shop about 25€ with that amount of calls on it.

Brian- my reaction is that it looks ok IF you are spending a few months abroad but if only on shortish vacation-even less than 3 moinths it seems expensive. £35 for the simcard for PAYG and 6.99 per month for minimum of 6 months would be to expensive for me at a maximum of 3/4 weeks inFrance or Germany.

We actually spend some 3 months at a time in France broken by return visits to the UK for blood tests and visit my specialist - Leukaemia et al you realise!
So we were looking for something more permanent than a PAYAYG SIM. We have used specific country SIMS for the past 8 years while travelling and have learnt about the good and bad of each, compounded by customer service calls one cannot understand - most infuriating. Have tried all other including call back systems and PIN coded systems too.
Forgive me but I dont see where the £35.00 comes in? We were thinking about the 12 months plan which is on offer for for 6 months period if signed up before 31 March 2008. After which one can opt to continue or cancel. Tis will cost £6.99 plus any call costs according to the rates. The real appeal is the free receiving of calls which I know you can get on all local sims and many other cards but add to this quite competitive rates on calls, SMS and email.
For serious work we generally seek out a Mc Donalds and get WIFI free and fast too.
Welcome your comments, Brian.

As my previous post, I've just ordered an international sim for roaming access from

The clincher for me is that is has a UK mobile number (NOT estonian!), so anyone in the UK can call me and it costs me nothing, and only a UK call for the caller (with inclusive minutes on peoples mobiles etc it will be free for them to call me!).
We're hopefully going to be using it France, Spain, Portugal and Morocco.
Cost £20 with £10 of credit and £2.50 recorded delivery.
Will let you know what it's like when it gets here and I've used it.

Cherry do have a fair usage policy ie
4. The Cherry™ SIM card rates and tariffs assume fair usage of the Services by you. This includes, but is not
limited to maintaining a ratio of outbound tariffable calls to inbound calls of more than 20% on your
account. In the event of fair usage not being sustained, the Supplier reserves the right to review the rates
and tariffs applied to your account or to terminate the Services and in this event, such termination shall be
deemed to have been made by you.
So it will be necessary to make a proportion of chargeable calls

I can run to £10 and will make the odd call outbound... probably some texts too.
If they cut me off, they cut me off, I don't expect something for nothing...
I must admit I didn't see the section you have quoted, couldn't see it in the T&Cs??
Cheers

We found the Sim4travel card unreliable...often wouldn't connect. I would not buy another, but haven't decided yet what else to try so will watch this post with interest.
