Hi Trev,

Yes, I have the V6 auto. Superb combination. I'm not normally a fan of auto gearboxes and wouldn't have one anywhere near my car. But with a vehicle this size it's one less thing to worry about.

Overall, apart from minor teething problems which have all been sorted by Rapido, Wokingham we have no complaints. Just need to get this battery drain problem sorted now.

Tony

Best supplier of Rapido's in the UK for after sales service is Caravannes Rapido in Wokingham, Berkshire, excellent company with knowledgable staff who care about their customers.

No I have no connection with them, just a professional opinion of another dealer.

Regards

Hello

For information only

I have noticed that Highbridge Caravan/Motorhome Centre at Highbridge nr Bristol are starting to sell New Rapido's , good news for us as we live in Torquay, they are a smaller company, with a good reputation

We bought our Chausson from Highbridge (on recommendation from Spacerunner on here), and have been happy with the service.

Evening all,

Quick update. Wokingham telephoned me this morning to advise that the required patch ( or whatever it is ) was with them. Gave them the information with regard to my local Merc dealer, and the patch was to be e-mailed to them later in the day.

Will give the dealer a ring in the morning and arrange a time for the 999M to go in so the update can be downloaded.

Hi Philip,

Good news and thanks for the update.
I haven't had a call yet so will give them a ring tomorrow.

Are they paying the Merc dealer direct or do you have to recover it?

Tony,

Spoke to the Merc dealer this morning to check that he had received the patch ( which he has ).

The upload of the patch is being done next Thursday as a Merc dealer freebie, as a gesture for all the inconvenience l've had. I think they'll be just glad to see the back of me.

Hi Muppet,

Not certain that our patch will be of much use to you, simply because it's as a result of collaboration between Rapido and Merc ( or at least that's my understanding ).

It might be worth an enquiry of your converter along the lines of " other converters have had this problem with Mercs, and they've managed to get a patch for the Merc engine management system that reduces the drain down to 30 milliamps ".

Picked the MoHome up yesterday morning, with the patch duly installed, with the Merc dealer keeping his promise and doing it at no charge.

Does it work - don't know, because upon leaving the premises within a couple of hundred yards l realised that the auto box was stuck in first gear and wouldn't change up. Quick turnaround and back to the dealer. Computer diagnostics showed that the patch as well as doing what it was supposed to do, had turned off the auto box function, therefore no instructions were being received by the auto box to change gear. A few key strokes later and l was back on the road.

In respect of the battery, time will now tell.

Whilst the Merc dealer was in possession of the vehicle, l asked them to make some adjustments to the passenger door, in that it was sometimes difficult to close and l'd got sick of pulling away and finding a warning light flashing at me telling me that the door wasn't closed.

They've now sorted that out, but the MoHome goes back to them tomorrow to have the optional air conditioning system removed, ie: l now have a quarter inch gap along the top of the door blasting cold air through the cab and making a noise like a demented banshee.

If it's not one thing, it's another.
