when things have settled down you will be bored and looking for a new challenge
Like a hole in the head, probably? Being a fairly motivated sort of person, I have never suffered from boredom in my life. I am though at the stage in life where I've got just over 2 years to go till retirement at 55, and now want to discover relaxation. That's quite different from boredom, but I understand why they are often mixed up. Our new home will be renovated from top to bottom over 4 months (MODS: please note: we WILL be fulltiming during that period, so still on-topic ) so that in itself will be a challenge, albeit I won't get my hands dirty.
After that, the aim is to slowly wind down the work mentality, and wind up the next phase, which heavily involves sunshine and our RV....
Dougie.

Pity you are moving, that farmer sounds like salt of the earth, old school. do you really think that property prices will be declining for that length of time.
wishing you the best of luck.

Thanks. There are indeed some people left who are honest, decent & trustworthy. That's the main reason we're staying in the area, as the friends we've made here over the years are all like that.
From what I'm seeing, the UK property market is in decline, but not a "bust". By all accounts, it's predicted to continue for between 2 & 4 years until it levels and regains a gentle incline. That will make it pretty much like the way most of the rest of Europe has been for a long time.

hi Dougie
The light at the end of the tunnel, the silver lining, etc
I hope it all goes well for you. Your new journey as ours is just starting. The fact I am wrigting this from Isla Christen, Just outside of Portugal is proof it can and does work. You may experience the same guilt/disbelief that it is actually happening, but every day, every morning becomes a treasured memory, every tomorrow a new adventure.
We have sold because we believe as you the UK housing market will be "Difficult " for the next 2 or 3 years and revel in our investments.we will ultimately have "Bricks and mortar" but this time with an RV area.
Enjoy the moment
Regards
Tel
