We're getting a new Hymer in march and are having one of the Camos satellite domes fitted by Roadpro.
We've just subscribed to Sky at home and understand that the viewing card is "linked" to the digibox and therefore can't be used in a different digibox in the motorhome.
However, Sky do a "multi room" package (for an additional £10 per month) which I understand means you have to buy a second digibox (£99) and presumably they supply a second viewing card. So I was wondering if I could take the second digibox into the motorhome, connect it to the satellite and leave the original at home...that way we can watch sky in the motorhome and our daughters can watch sky at home, while we are away!
Or am I missing the point?????
Any help/ advice will be greatly appreciated!

The Sky contractual small print requires both digiboxes (2nd with multiroom) to be connected to the phone line.
However, should you be away on holiday, Sky understands that many people unplug consumer electronics for safety reasons. This would not be a valid reason if one box were connected and another disconnected.
When 12 months are up there is no requirement to remain connected to the phone line.

[quote:ca5278fab8]Yeh You can unplug after 12 months
What is the problem with unplugging before ??
Do they charge extra or something ??
We got a BBC card & dont pay SKY anything[/quote:ca5278fab8]
The problem with unplugging before is you risk Sky pursuing you for breach of contract, witholding the service, etc. They are hotting up on this aspect, with the increasing deployment of "multiroom" and the corresponding temptation to breach the contractual conditions.
If you don't pay Sky anything, then you obviously don't have a contract with them.

Hi PeteC, I don't quite understand your comment about difficulties receiving UK TV abroad, this forum is Satellite TV and using suitable equipment, Sat Dish and receiver, you should be able to get quite a few UK channels all over Central and Western Europe,

Never connected our receiver to the phone in the UK.....didn't have an extension in the room. No problems in over 4 years.
When we moved here we just took the box etc and said nothing (I know, I know).......All we have done is maintain standing order for services, new card gets forwarded by redirect mail........So, who's a naughty boy then.
Only problem we had here, as with ALL sky users in Souther Spain was poor reception. I.3 metre dish sorted that. No ideal for motorhome. You should see the dishes full-times have at some of the coastal sites.
