After the tremendous success of the last two this year's comp is to be launched on March 1st
For the past few weeks I have been talking to traders who support MHF and asking them if they would like to sponsor the comp. I would like to thank those who have stepped forward.
The prize for the overall winner is £250 cash sponsored by HDS Securities, one of Dawnraiders companies. Dawnraider has sponsored the comp for the past two years and I thank him for his continued support
Then for the winner of each round there is a £100 voucher from the following companies
Van Bitz
Starspanngledspanner
Snellyvision
Outdoorbits
Artona Studios
I am overwhelmed at the support offered by these companies, thank you again.
The way the comp will run is over five rounds
1) March - Landscapes - always a favourite round with MHF members
2) April - People/animal pics - straighforward,
3) May - Open round - what ever you want to enter
4) June - Motorhome - the pic must include a motorhome
5) July - 2008 - a photograph that typifies 2008
Each round will last 1 month, starting on the first day and ending on the last. Each round will then be judged by a panel. The panel is Myself, last years winner Peedee, GeraldandAnnie, G2EWS and a lady yet to be announced.
From each round the winner will win a voucher of their choice, although vouchers already chosen in previous rounds will obviously not be available.
The top three photographs from each round will be entered into the final and this will be judged by the subscribers of MHF. The winner will receive the top prize of £250.
Rules are simple
1) Photographs must have been taken by the entrant who must subscribe to MHF.
2) Once a round has finished no more entries will be accepted for that round
3) The Judge's decision is final
Hope I have covered everything. Get your entries ready and feel free to ask any questions.

Stew - this is great news, and a thank you to the sponsors...
May I ask one question please.
As someone who is most definitely NOT a professional - just a snap and shoot person, who really doesn't have any idea of how to alter photographs within image programmes, yes I can crop but having read all the comments about filters etc., from people who so obviously do know how to use them, is there any way we could have a competition where you were not able to manipulate the photo - it is as taken - full stop....then we are all on the same level...and it doesn't depend on someone's knowledge of a computer programme to enhance the shot...
Or am I a lone voice - probably...but it doesn't cost to ask. Unless there are rules somewhere about this, that I have not yet seen?

Not for the first time have we been confused peejay. It twas I who scooped the money and by the way I am not a professional so there is a chance for everyone.
To pick up on Carols point, I would think it is nigh on impossible to limit photos to as taken. That said, whilst you can alter many many things in a pic these days, there is no substitute for a good first time shot! My winners of the rounds were all first time shots and whilst I do know how to use some of the facilities of manipulation software and used it on one shot, it was not even in the first 10??? There is no substitute for a good composition in the first place.
