Now I know that most of you have all sorts of odd shapes on the roofs of your vans (including Mr Burleigh's large tit) to capture and bring TV signals on board. The Van Steamdriven Support Team (me & Mrs Steamdriven) have no desire to view the rubbish on TV these days, preferring radio and CDs, but we would like to run DVD's and communicate via the web.

The lovely Mrs SD has at last agreed that it might be a good idea to have a laptop to undertake these duties and be used in the house so we can both be 'on the computer' at the same time.

I would appreciate some advice from all you MHF Tech Heads as to how access to the internet is best achieved without relying on the CC all the time or camping in McDonalds car parks Shocked

Any suggestions as to the best and lowest cost equipment and method of operating would be much appreciated.

Andy

Look like you may have to use the search engine. It's been done to death many times though my recollection of mobile internet is there is no easy solution.

You don't say UK or abroad. I believe I've seen posts on PC card modems for the UK that might be classed as affordable.

Abroad I think it's a case of relying on WiFi hot spots or pay an arm and a leg.
