Can anybody help, I have an oyster vision set-up but Im having trouble with it i.e everytime I power up the system the dish seems to lock just off the right spot and I have to manually alter the dish five clicks to the west,
Question is it possible to alter slightly the default position (Astra 2B at mo). Every time I have altered the dish I try to store the location by pressing OK but this seems to do nothing! The instruction manual I have is not very good ....................Help
Hi,We have the same problem, took it back to Transleisure, they said the control box would need an update to the software, but would need to be removed in order for this to be done(at a cost of £45)as we were just passing we didn't have it done so just put up with the incovenience of resetting manually!cheers Curlyboy
Hi guys thanks very much for your help (I hate all this techy stuff) all I have to do now is either live with it or find someone near Poole Dorset to upgrade the software
Could I suggest you contact Robert Jackson on 07801 843332. He installed my Oyster system. I think (dangerous, I know) that he can do the upgrades for you without needing your van. Failing that, he operates mobile, so if you ask him if he has any other jobs on the south coast etc, maybe he could see your van if needed.

On another thread Premier Motorhomes at Chichester have offeed to help another member with an Oyster problem, so that seems like your best bet.
I updated my own software, but if you don't enjoy the techie stuff it's best left alone
Hi there all
This is a common problem and nothing wrong with the Oyster. The reason for the mislocking to the wrong position is that in December 2006 the Arabs launched a satellite called Badr4. They positioned the damn thing right next to Astra 2 and to make matters worse one of the search frequencies/polarities they used is the same one as the Oyster uses to lock on to Astra 2 , so depending on which satellite the dish sees first it may lock to the wrong satellite although the display in the controler says "Astra 2 found " because it cant tell the difference. The user sees a message from the digibox saying "no satellite being received" . Although there is no fault with the Oyster the German manufacturers made an update available to overcome the problem which was not of their making. This only affects the Oyster Vision Mk1 and Caro Vision Mk 1 identified by the wedge shaped controler with a map of Europe on it divided into three zones.
As part of our ongoing support to Oyster owners whether bought from us or not, we upgrade the controlers free of charge . simply post the controler to us enclosing a fiver to cover return postage, not forgetting to enclose your name and adress !

Hi there Andrew
no the problem does not affect the Oyster iv only the Vision Mk1 . The Vision 1 takes the power to make the lnb work from the Digibox connected to it which is why if youn do not power the digibox before seasrching the Vision gives the display reading " please switch on receiver" and wont search , the problem is connected\with search frequecy and polarity used , as the standard sky box defaults to 11778 vertical and cannot be changed to default top a horizontal frequency by default , this is the main reason for the upgrade , Vision mk 2 and all digital receiver based systems as the Oyster iv do not rely on the digibox , hence no problem , the software provided by Ten-Haaft is simply an updated version of you existing one and will make no real noticable difference to you . the ten haaft software can be loaded using a programme called "tv box edit" freely available on the web , the upgrade for the Vision mk1 requires an eprom programmer only availble to ten Haaft dealers . hope this clarifies
regards robert jackson
