We have held off buying until the Peterborough Show.
However there seem to be a few other makes that offer better value.
I realise that Avtex are good etc but looking at specs of the others I don't really see a big difference.
I'm not talking about 'domestic' TVs. Smile

PS. I did EMail the company a couple of times but got no reply...also telephoned but they haven't returned that either!

Hi Steve

Agree with majority here, great product. We got 15" 7-in-1 from 12vTV of Salford www.12vtv.co.uk with great customer service and decided to get the Avtex carry bag while we were at it. One of those products where once you take a deep breath and spend a bit more on the original outlay you never regret it. I suspect spending a bit less, especially on a 'supermarket special' flat screen job, will result in regrets and frustration every time you turn it on if you once entertained the idea of an Avtex. Agree with EJB who mentions other 12v products (which are appearing more frequently in ads. these days) which could provide really good value - I just don't know because I was sorted with the Avtex before there were any real competitors. Best of luck with your search.

I pride myself on selecting dealers and manufacturers who give good customer service, after all how can I give a good customer service if my suppliers are rubbish? Avtex are a supplier that offers very quick and effective customer service and im proud to supply their products.

Im glad the user who bought from me found Avtex very approachable... that says a lot about the company. Most suppliers would of fobbed the customer off back to the retailer.

I've got a Nextbase 10.2" which is very similarly specced to the Avtex with DVD player etc. but a lot cheaper. I find it really good, the only downside is that the remote doesn't control the sound volume and you have to adjust it on the side of the set.

I got mine on Ebay and just had a look to see if there's one there and there is. A brand new one for a buy it now price of 200 pounds. Do an Ebay search "New NextBase SDV-1102" and you'll find it. Or pay 250 pounds in Currys.

Most televisions of the same size are technically specced very similar, give or take the additional perks such as DVD and freeview.

What you will note is that the quality of the components used to assemble the TV's is far greater than with comparable brands, and as a result you will have far fewer issues.

Avtex also strive to continally advance the spec of their units. The '7 in 1' since its inception has had about 7 revisions to improve its features. You will also find that ease of use is a very important factor, with no clumsy remotes or menu systems.

Regards,
Chris

I looked at Avtex & rejected it because it was so wide & really expensive, I appreciate all of the various connection options but know that I certainly would never use options like the card readers.
Went to Comet and lay on the floor to find a tv that could be seen from the viewing angle that we would be watching from.
I bought a set made by Kenrick (actually a rebadged Panasonic I am reliably informed), it is superb, combines Analogue/Digital tuners and a DVD player and a PC input (not sure who carries a desktop PC in a motorhome but if you do you can connect this.
The price is now down to £160 (I paid £180), I added a regulator for 12v operation from TFT Power (be warned, their service is as poor as Amperor) at a cost of £40 including carriage.
Combined with a Camos 40 dome and a Zehnder Receiver it really is superb, no, it is not HD ready but to be frank, how long will it be before we start (or need) to use a Blueray Player on 12v in a motorhome let alone Sky and the like.
I cannot recommend the Kenrick highly enough and I am knocked out by the price.

Really really really really rea .... ad infinitum .... cheesed off!!!!

STILL can't watch my Avtex TV. I took it back to the place I bought it from and they said there was nothing wrong with it and it was the aerial.

So I took my Motorhome back this week to where I purchased it from as it is still under warranty. Had a few things fixed BUT ... they have just delivered it back and said there is nothing wrong with the aerial. They said put the tv onto tv setting and not DVB. However, this doesn't allow me access to Freeview from what I can see. NOT THAT IT MATTERS ANYWAY.

Because I have just tried it out again, and still NOTHING BUT A FUZZY BLUR OF SOME KIND AND VOICES LIKE A SIGNAL TO ET TELLING HIM TO COME HOME QUICK. Feel really fed up. The journey to the motorhome place was a hundred mile round trip.... all for nothing. I am a miser when it comes to fuel as I am struggling to keep the MH on the road and don't want to have to get rid of it so quickly.

Can those of you posting above who swear by these tvs please tell me if there is somewhere I can contact to come out and look at the tv with an unbiased point of view. The supplier who sold it to me told me at the time that if there was a problem phone Avtex and they would send someone out to help. There is no phone number on any of the literature!!! I have Googled Avtex and all that comes up is a load of people who sell them and not Avtex itself. Any help would be wonderful, please as I am ready for throwing it through the window and I can't really afford to do that. Thank you. Joy
