Hi Carol,
We have used Lockwood 3 times on 3 imports. They are an excellent firm and very helpful over the phone 0113 244 0070.
The last one for the Rapido was very easy to fit as you only replace the left hand speedo circle not the whole display.
They send you very comprehensive instructions as well.I personally would not dream of spending all that money on a new van and doing a stick on job. We have kept the original part in case we sell ours abroad in the future.
Good luck with the new van. Helen.

Carol,
Ours is the new fiat 130.Do not know if 160 would be same as 130 but our dial replacement is the C120 on Lockwoods site. The C124 dial has an extra icon of a lorry on the bottom.
You will no doubt have a local Fiat garage that you will be using for service, warranty work and recalls maybe chat them up and register with them and they will look it up for you.
It is a pity you are buying in Germany as the Rapido factory is at Mayenne near Brittany and the biggest and nearest dealer to the factory is at Rennes. We are back to our dealer there for the 4th time since we bought in July. This time we need the electric step replacing as they damaged it when transporting the van back to France after all the electrical problems. It was taken back in October after the NEC to Mayenne and we flew out mid December to collect it as soon as it was fixed.Rapido did pay all expenses. Helen.

Helen, you post now worries me, I am hoping, that all recalls will have been carried out, or sorted at the time of build, bearing in mind the engine is a new one automatic.... we shall see.... so fingers crossed, it is a long way back to the delaer south of Stuttgart... from your email I read you bought yours in France - we did wonder whether to do that, especially as we have been more to the mh show they have at Bordeaux (not Paris) and go there, but we had (sorry read I had) wanted to go to the Dusseldorf show for a look as I had never been, and as we have friends in Stuttgart, and I go at least once a year to see them, it seemed OK. I had also imported a Hymer (private sale) without any mishaps, but I do know that the original owner had sorted out the list of 32 items, as he showed it to me....

Thanks for explaining about the dial..... I think it may well be worth looking at the vehicle when we get back here. As to sorting out a Fiat service station, No, not really, Chelston is perhaps our nearest, there is also Sanders in Milton Damerell, who sorted out our Mercedes lights for us on the last one.... but we shall see.... will wait and read reports on Chelston's servicing.... over the next few months...

Helen thank you

Carol

Hi Carol,
I am sure you will be fine and as you have a reason for going back to Stuttgart you can have your habitation check done then.
We bought our Laika at the Dusseldorf Show from a dealer in southern Germany and it was such an effort going back to them we did not bother in the end.
We also had a water leak which was supposed to be fixed at the factory but was not. However Rapido then authorised Rapido Wokingham to carry out the investigation and repair. They did this in january for us only took a couple of hours and now all fine.It was a leak somewhere along the line from the external shower which was then flooding the wardrobe every time the pump was on.
ps We do love the van. The best we have had. Helen.

Helen, we found having our check on the Hymer done when we were in France was better than here, just a little forward planning needed. We will no doubt do the same with the Rapido, and just hope we have no problems.

I wish I hadn't read this topic and was perfectly happy with my Km/h speedo until now. Does anyone know where I might source an overlay for a 1999 Transit chassis? Crying or Very sad
