Help is required

Our laika is based on an Iveco daily Chassis and running gear, including the vehicle electrics.

For some reason the windscreen wipers have started parking themselves in the upright position instead of horizontally.

Other than this they work fine.

Does anyone know what part of the wiper motor system tells the arm to come to rest in the horizontal position and which part may be giving the system the wrong signal and telling it to park upright

I hope somen ecan help as it has me scratching my head

Thanks

Hi Patsy

Do a search. There was quite a complicated thread on exactly this question quite a while ago now, and it answered just about every aspect of your problem.

Hope this helps

No - it wasn't that one. I'll try to find it, but it might have self-destructed depending which forum it was on.

More - can't find it sorry. Must have been in the self-destruct forum.

The wiper system depends on its self parking on a contact mounted on an insulating plate on the side of the wiper motor gearbox. The parking position also depends on the wiper motor stopping when its supposed to and associated with this is a connection that puts a short circuit across the wiper motor armature when its required to stop. So one loose connection can allow the wiper blade to over-travel. However in this scenario the motor frequently just does not stop, just stutters a bit!

Attached is a connection diagram for a 2 speed wiper motor off another vehicle which might give you a clue.

Good luck
C.
