In the book "all the aires France" what does it mean payment type custom, Raclet, Flot Blue, Euro Relais.
We are traveling in France soon and hope to use the Aires but are worried about having the correct type of payment with us so any advice would be helpful

The machines that deliver fresh water, allow you to dump grey water and clean your toilet cassette are made by different companies eg Raclet, Flot Blu and Euro Relais.
There are different payment methods, depending on type, The very newest ones i understand use credit cards but we've not met one of those yet.
Others use jetons (= tokens) available from the town hall ( Mairie) or tourist office , nearby campsite or somewhere that is made clear at the aire.
Other types use coins - usually a euro or two and some are free.
We carry a selection of euro coins. It is not usually possible to buy the tokens in advance as they vary in design.
We've never been "caught short" !

When we buy tokens we usually buy 2 so we normally have 2 or 3 different sorts as spares and we always find they come in handy even if it is on another aire miles away.

hi cornishwop,
we have used the aires all over francs and the only problem you are likely to get is not being able to fit in the parking areas on some due to having a large van, just turn up have a look and if no fit ask the french were you can park they always knoe the best spots. Even the germans with there huge vans have problems, la rochelle is great as the carpark is at the marina with a ferry to town.
