1) I am in an area at the moment where I only have 2G and at 5.5kps download it would take ages to download.
2) The judging is to be done without knowing who has taken the photographs. If any of the judges have downloaded the images then I am sorry but they would have to be disqualified.
If you want to enter images then if you go to the album there is a tab at the top called photo actions. If you click on that then another tab drops down inviting you to upload images.
Knowing you Dave I suspect that your slideshow file does not actually include your images but due to problem 1 I can't check

stew
You might be right at that Stew!
It's a presentation of some really stunning photos that I thought you (and others) might appreciate. They came to me from a Graphic Artists friend who also appreciates great, no stunning, photos.
I would be proud to have taken any one of them!!
Hope you enjoy them when you get to where you can see them.

Just another gratuitous pile of photos with no credit given for the photographer.
I don't think our site rules should allow this

Hardly a "gratuitous pile" Frank - they are brilliant.
While I agree that credit should of course be given where possible, I don't see what we can do about something like this which was doing the rounds via email a couple of months ago. I simply passed it on thinking the ladies (and a good few blokes) would enjoy looking at them.
Do we specifically deny others the pleasure of looking at any photos other than those we can fully accredit?
If we take this to extremes the Mods will be on overtime checking out every single quote which is credited, and deleting the majority which are not. Some posts will look like the last page of a Ph.D. thesis!!
For a start I shall want all the avatars I have done for members credited with my name underneath. It could easily get very silly.
I don't know the answer, but since you raise the issue so forecefully I'm just airing another viewpoint!!
Cheers
P.S. If I don't respond please don't take a fence! I just noticed it is raining in the kitchen and I think I may have to have the bathroom floor up.
Yippee. We were going away for a few days tomorrow as well!!!!
Copyright + credited + Internet = very difficult to police
Pro photographers are now viewing the whole issue differently these days.
We look to get paid more for the images in the first place and then not spend lots of time worrying about it. Personally I have steered away from Facebook but the other day a customer told me she had scanned all my photos and put them on there. She claimed they had all been credited to me but had forgotten the url for them
We will now even sell you the disk with the images on
I do think if there is a chance of putting a credit on it is nice but as it appear in this case if we do not know it should we then not use the pics - an interesting question
I still think that photos, especially ones of such good quality, shouldn't just be published without credit especially on such a comprehensively googled site like this.
I make the disctinction between this and grabbing a small image to illustrate a point perhaps.
best of luck with your ceiling/floor Dave

I don't fully understand what is being said above but I think MHF may be on dodgy ground as copyright is very much a runner and I think only member pics should be posted in albums whether competition or not. Of course a link to somewhere in a post is a different thing.
As I have probably lost the plot completely, I shall apologise in advance.

(Thanks Frank. The rain in the kitchen is not as serious as I feared. No need to get the bathroom floor up, so time to respond to a very interesting issue.)
Hmmmm. I wonder if you can draw a line like that Frank. If you must credit some images then surely there can be no exceptions.
What about the owner of the "small image" that one grabs to illustrate a point? Are you saying it doesn't matter if the image is small, or it's OK if it is used to illustrate a point?
I would argue that the owner of an original small (or reduced) image that has been reproduced without accreditation for whatever reason, has just as much right to be miffed as Artona could be for having his gallery swiped and put on Facebook.
Much as I dislike excessive rules and regulations, I think if we are to adopt them at all, then they should apply to all circumstances without convenient exceptions.
