Windows XP 64 bit edition.

When I use IE7 I find that this forum (and another one I use) runs desperately slow for significant parts of the day.

Other sites like Ebay are not affected.

I have just installed Firefox - lo and behold, both fora run lightning quick using that browser whilst simultaneously running them on IE7 they are diabolically slow again.

Why?

usual bloated bug ridden microsoft software? ... just an idea.
maybe you are missing a plugin in IE that the forum use?

Firefox wins for me everytime. I'd uninstall IE if Microsoft hadn't stuck so many hooks into the OS thru it to stop me.

I've avoided the upgrade to IE7, and until Service Pack 3 or 4 is out, I'll continue to do so. What Service Pack is it on at the moment?

I'd personally recommend installing the IETab extension to Firefox and then removing the IE icon from the desktop, if they allow you to do that.

Hi Pippin

you can make Firefox faster. Try this

This has worked for me and others, but do it at your own risk etc etc

Geoff

The same, and more, can be achieved safer with the FasterFox add-on. A must-have. Just set defaults to "Turbo Charged" and that covers most things. Selecting "Custom" allows advanced users to tweak. Who needs IE?

This is one of the very few (1 or 2) sites that runs slowly on IE 7. ALL other sites are fine.

This site seems even slower when you follow the recommendation to install FasterFox, and have to watch the Page Load Timer. Yawn!
