Hi Dave,

You seem to be THE MAN in the know re computer stuff, so I wonder if you can advise me if I need any add-ons for my laptop to be able to run an Autoroute disc when we are in Europe and or UK.

Thanks in anticipation of your help
regards
john

Mistaken identity John I'm afraid. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

I know a bit, and happened to be around to answer this query, but you would be better off waiting for a real expert.

I suggest you ask your question in a new post and give it a suitably intriguing title to attract attention. Wink

Sorry

I have been using an Autoroute 2001 on my 18 month old laptop for uk and France for some time.
It's not street level in Europe but I find in conjunction with the Carmine satnav I can work out where to go quite easily.

You don't need any extras to be able to run Autoroute on a laptop, not even the CD! Once you've installed it all of the maps will be on the laptop so you can put the CD away in a safe place.
However, if you mean can you use it as a satellite navigation then you'll need a GPS receiver. I'd strongly recommend going for a basic USB receiver that uses the SIRF Star III GPS chip.
I think you'll find AR2003 a pretty poor navigator but it's still a useful supplement to a decent road atlas.

Regards
Doug

Auto Route 2003 is on a old computer. Can I get it off, to put it on the Laptop. We have a Garmin 350 for MH.
Just want Auto route for planning.

Sorry, just re-read your earlier posting. The simple answer is no, you can't copy it from one computer to another.
There are tools available on the internet that might be able to do it but I suspect you're going to be digging down in the registry and I definitely wouldn't recommend that.
I'd buy a replacement from Ebay if I was in your position.

Sorry
