Recall Details
Concern : STEERING MAY BECOME STIFF
Description : It has been identified that, a problem may arise with the steering mechanism which can result in hardness whilst manoeuvring.
Remedial Action : Recalled vehicles will have the steering mechanism checked and lubricated. The mechanism will be replaced if found to be damaged. At the same time certain vehicles will have key components reinforced against the ingress of water. Thus preventing operating faults in the long term.

Sorry but couldn't resist highlighting a really interesting paragraph
Even more interesting in red
Final thought would any of this be happening (albeit slowly) if it weren't for complaints ?

PS Just checked the recalls for Fiat and interesting no mention of ingress & "Thus preventing operating faults in the long term."

Hi Catherine thanks, never thought of doing that
Makes it much easier to read now!! Yes I also thought that bit about preventing operating faults very interesting. What was it they said when we first complained oh yes am remembering 'cosmetic' wasn't it. Not so flippin cosmetic now methinks!
Very interesting, but being the cynical old sod that I am my eyes went straight to the word "certain" as in "At the same time certain vehicles will have key components reinforced against the ingress of water."
Have many people received a recall yet from Peugeot? I've heard nothing, and have given up asking for a while, waiting for something like this to appear in black and white - as it were!!

Hi Zeb as you know I am in a slightly different position to most of you as my fight had been taken into the legal arena as it were. However my vehicle has been booked in to have the recall work done on 31st March. I understand it involves
a. steering rack lube.. but if teeth missing safety issue vehicle grounded (?? availability of parts)
b. something to do with gearbox....sorry no specifics
c. engine cover
d.windscreen wiper motor cover
e. abs cover
f. starter motor cover
g. improved drainage via new drain tube
also there is a campaign (recall by any other name but not on VOSA site) for an ECU upgrade. If you phone Peugeot customer care on 0845 200 2500 they will check for you. Oh word of caution mine is still not on Peugeots list for recall although it is obviously affected seems they are releasing in batches!!!!
As far as I'm aware my vehicle is OK apart from the water ingress, and the long-line Taylor Made has sorted that until such time as I can be bothered to start the hassle again.
While I'm at it though I shall ask for all the recall items to be done - on principle if nothing else.
Are you any nearer to getting your problems sorted out? PM if you think other members will not be interested.
Hi . Could you tell me. Do you get ,the recall message from Peugeot or your dealer ?My M/H was registered 11/06 does this involve me.? wallis
Hi wallis should be dealer I think!! Your van probably not affected as it is the new boxer III that has most of the problems. However looking at the VOSA website there are quite a few for the boxer may be worth a phone call anyway.
regards
carol
Hi Carol,
we returned from Portugal on Wednesday to find a registered letter from Fiat requesting me to "make the earliest possible appointment"with my nearest Fiat dealer to have the steering rack and wiper motor checked.I will get it sorted on Monday as I now have a problem with the brakes, seamus.
Ps,just before I pressed the submit button I noticed that the recall is for my old van, need to ease up on the jamesons.

Hey Seamus hope you had a great time in Portugal. Nice to have you back. Maybe will be Peugeot that will contact people then for the recalls.
Am laughing at you saying you need to ease up on the jamesons wow am thinking no need to go that far hon
Whats wrong with ones brakes????
