Popped in today as we could smell gas in the locker of our brand new Tempo. We had put our second bottle (supplied with the van in Jan) on only yesterday, had no such smells with the first bottle.

Stowmarket Caravans sent a chap over with a can of stuff to test the bottle and connection, and sure enough, it turned out to be a faulty bottle.

The tech just popped a brand new one on (a nice new lightweight one to boot!), and tested it all again. Spent a good few mins on it, would not let me pay anything.

To top it off, the shop let me take a new bottle (another new light one) as a straight swap over. The one we did pay for was £15.50

Thanks to Stowmarket Caravans if they read this.

It's nice to hear about the good guys out there - I am sure there must be lots of them but we only tend to hear the grumbles. Maybe if we all publicise the ones who have done that little bit extra to help we can encourage others, a case of carrot rather than stick

A few more messages like this would brighten the place up.

It will be interesting to see how many comments you get - if you had said that they charged you £1K because you had obviously broken it then you'd get 1000 replies.

What sort of bottle was the leak on and what did they give you in exchange . Was it Calorlite bottles.

I will mention this site and your comment to Tony when I see him! He might even want to join.I should say he will very pleased.

Many Thanks Bob.

The leak was on an old red propane 6kg canister, it had 1978 on it but don't know if that was the date it was made, certainly looked okd and tatty, and the knob was much looser than the first one we had.

They only had the lighter ones in, it is Calor Lite, and it is MUCH lighter, plus big comfy handles and a built in gauge. Much better than the old ones!

If you know the guy please do point this out to them.

Hi Kev. Thanks for that. I am one for Gaslow but I also have Calor bottles. I might exchange those for Calorlite bottles. Do you think that Calor are fading out the old bottles and when you go for a refill give you a new Calorlite in exchange! I will have to go down and see what the deal is. Many Thanks.Bob.
