Hi we are Rosie & Michael & are thinking seriously of selling up and living in our motorhome permanently. We spend three to four months in Spain in the winter and about five months in France in the summer so we're nearly there. The problem we see is loosing our doctor & not being able to get our drugs that we both need for these old bones! The other thing is an address in England & could I still get my disability allowance? If anyone out there has any helpful advice we'd be very pleased to receive it. Thank you. ROSMIC :

Hi
We began full timing nearly two years ago. We rent out our house in Margate and use my brother's address in Wales as a communication address in the UK. As regards our doctor, we did not actually tell him that we were no longer living at our house so we were able to keep the same doctor. We actually have the Margate address post (that is anything that is likely to go there) re-directed to a friend who lives in Margate. As for getting our prescriptions, we stocked up for quite a few months before coming abroad and then the daughter-in-law kindly goes down once a month to put in and collect the prescriptions for us so when we return to the UK our supplies are still well stocked up. You can actually buy quite a few prescription drugs over the counter in Spain.
As regards benefits, Ann was on incapacity benefit when we left the UK but it was being paid into a bank account and then in January her state pension began being paid in. Ann had sorted out about her state pension before we left the UK. I would think that any disability benefit would still be paid into your account. If you go into the web site for State Pensions and Benefits you would probably be able to find out what happens when you travel abroad for long periods. I think you would still get your disability money without any problem.
Hope this is of some help to you.
