I want to change the immobiliser from the button on the fob to the keypad on the dash. At the moment the keypad is serving no function.
Nothing to be found about doing this in the users manual. Also after extensive Googling I cant find a webby for the manufacturers to ask them.
Anyone have any ideas how this is achieved ?
Many thanks Dave. |

You normally get a code for the keypad when you have the alarm installed. Via this code you can change some of these options.
Most people change this code once they have the unit installed.
So, you want to be able to open the door, and dissarm the alarm with the keypad? |

Hi Dave, not sure if you have the same system as my one, also a Sigma. With mine pressing the button on the fob operates the central locking, the alarm system and the immobiliser all at the same time. However, if the engine is not started within the reset time the immobiliser resets itself. If I subsequently want to start the engine I key in the four figure code on the keypad and this turns off the immobiliser, I believe you can carry out the same function with the fob by I prefer the keypad for this function as it is simply handier. I don't think your is disconnected but perhaps you have simply not tried it preferring the Key fob, also you can use the key pad to enter some 'user preferences' on how the system behaves.
Regards

| Further to Jean-Lucs comments:- I insert the ignition key, turn it on then prees the key fob button. This shows a green icon in the facia lights. Then turn off the ignition and start as normal. |

My Sigma alarm was fitted at Brownhills, Newark, when the van had a previous owner. They kindly provided the access code once I had established my credentials.
So now I have a code for using the keypad and it happily accepts the first three digits. However, it refuses to accept anything for the vital fourth digit.
One day I shall return and see if they can sort it - I'll probably have to pay for a "service" - quoted at £50 on the original paperwork, but doubtlessly gone up since then.
On a slightly different note, the alarm kept triggering. I traced it to a broken reed switch by one of the external lockers. Amazingly, the magnet holds the switch in the "open" position: closing the circuit operates the alarm. Does this mean Bill the Burglar merely cuts the wires and the system thinks the doors are shut?
Probably not much use to you, Dave, but I can let you have a copy of the actions of the different codes according to my manual if you require them.

I've got the code Yes, I want to be able to unlock the van & get in on the first button press then be required to use the keypad. At the moment if I don't start withing 30 secs of entering I press the big button a 2nd time to de-activate the immobiliser. I want the immobiliser to be active until the code is entered on the keypad. IE if someone else "finds" my keys they still cant start the van.
I want to transfer the immobiliser de-activation to the keypad.
Many thanks, Dave. |

I also wanted to do what you have in mind on our last van with a Sigma.
If I remember rightly the instruction booklet refers to it, but its not a user programmable option. It has to be set-up at the main processer by the alarm fitters. Like you, I thought it would be a good idea in case the keys were lost or stolen.
I hope there is an easier solution that someone can advise as we have a Sigma on the new van also. |

In response to my original question.
To move the immobiliser function from the keyfob to the cab keypad. It's called "Key theft protection" in the users manual.
Firstly check you have the correct PIN number written down or remembered. You will need this to de-activate the immobiliser once you activate this function.
Arm & then disarm the alarm using the keyfob.
Type the following into the keypad.
*17856*013*1#
There will probably be a beep after you enter the first part of the code & another after typing the hash symbol.
The immobiliser is now operated from the keypad.
This now allows you to de/activate the alarm if the keys are lost or stolen.
It also prevents the keys & fob being used to nick the vehicle as the perpetrators won't have your PIN code
Dave. |
