Exclamation
Damn, just spent an age giving lots of detail in this message only to find it got wiped when I submitted it.

The brief version is, just because the tyre valve recall does not match your vin, check them anyway if they are rubber type. I believe my wheels were swapped before I took delivery and the faulty valves are installed.

Check for swelling of the valve and a squishy soft rubber. Dealer replacing mine.

Can't find the information but thought that rubber type valves were only for pressures up to 60 PSI, may be wrong on maximum pressure but someone will probably know.
Metal ones fitted to my van.
Martin.

One of our friends that we camp with had one of these rubber type valves explode on his fairly new Kontiki. Fortunately it was only parked ouside his house at the time (the noise alerted him to come and check!) but if he had been driving well.............
His dealer told him that metal valves should have been fitted.

Interesting, I was expecting the sleeve and nut type metal valve to be fitted but a new valve I am not familiar with was fitted. The part number originally fitted was proved to be incorrect and the correct part number valves are fitted now. The new valve looks very similar to the old rubber valve in shape but has an extended gold metal threaded section that disappears into the rubber. The thread is the same length as previous and the extended part is smooth. The metal portion goes all the way through the valve and forms a head which can be seen in the mushroom section. Effectively supporting the stem and the mushroom. It is pushed into the wheel just like the normal rubber ones. Whilst not my prefered type they do look substantially better. Fiat and Dealer were both great.
