Hi just installed the 3 modem and done a few speed tests. The 3 is over 300kbps down and over 56kbps up. that compares to the O2data card at only around 80kbps down and just under 50kbps up, the O2 is supposed to be working on "Edge" as well. Wi-fi is nearly 6,000kbps down and nearly 380kbps up.

We are off to the show next weekend so I will test them both there, and if the 3 is as good or better its in the bin with O2.

Olley

Hi Ian

No, not anymore. T Mobile have slipped in the mobile internet race. I use Vodaphone and as a back up Three, Total cost per month £22.50 (£15 Vod, £7.50 half price Three). Gives us an agreed 6 gig download between the two.

I mentioned earlier in this post where I had quickly racked up a £50 bill (entire credit limit) using my 3 dongle whilst overseas. I tried to find where I could make a payment online so that I could continue to use overseas instead of waiting for my monthly direct debit to clear the debt. Was told by 3 that making online payments is not available to me as a direct debit customer, so I would always need to phone in to make a payment... expensive if currently overseas.

Regards,
Dan.

I am just on a normal pay as you go cheapy nokia mobile, so for one who knows nothing about the subject, what price phone would I need to buy to work with a dongle (same as Bluetooth usb adapter?which I have unused)and then the cost of running the phone and with use of it with the laptop to connect the internet. Will anybody be at Peterborough who has one of these mobiles?

Hi Wendy

I have a Sony Ericson K800i on a monthly tariff of £20. For this I get 500 minutes plus 100 texts per month. They also do a £15 package which I believe is 250 minutes plus texts

This then qualifies for the half price dongle Very Happy

sorry, but the 3 modem/dongle is different to the bluetooth usb adapter that you have

hope this helps

Geoff

I have now installed the 3 dongle on my desktop PC and I cant tell the difference between my Virgin cable broadband and 3.

Guess what, I am canceling virgin tomorrow, along with the TV package and the landline.

We mainly only watch BBC, and only use the phone for incoming calls, so all of the Virgin services are going

At the very least, I will be better off financially Very Happy

And I can take my broadband with me on our travels Very Happy
