Hi Very Happy
We're so new we haven't even been out in our new (1997 Peugeot Boxer) Autohome Windfall yet!
We have some questions and teething problems that I hope you experienced people might be able to help with....if you don't mind...

1. Where's the best place to get a reasonably priced TV that will run off 12v and 240v?

2. Our cargo net - we can't figure out how to fix it up...it has two clips at the sides and we can see where they seem to go...but the other edge (bottom?) has a row of screws...and we can't see where they go....any ideas? We feel a bit dumb! Maybe the previous owners altered it or do they usually fix on that way?

Hi and welcome to the site. Sorry cannot help with your questions hopefylly someone more knowlegable will be along soon. Our cargo net clips up on the top bit of the overcab bed but it is pretty rubbish and we will need to reinforce it somehow!!!

Thanks for replying and the welcome anyway Very Happy Yes there are 2 little brackets for the upper clips to go on, but nowhere we can see to screw the screws in at the bottom.
We don't intend to sleep up there, but I'd like to store all our bedding in there without it falling out! I know we can have the bed hooked up on a slant, but you can't fit as much in that way.

I'm also looking for a 12v TV. I simply tried googling for it and looking at the results.

However, some the the products on offer might be commendably cheap but may not operate reliably on the varying voltage (10 -14) that you get. I was looking to spend a bit more and get an avtex one complete with freeview and DVD. Could use it at home on 240 volt as a bedroom TV as well when analogue is switched off. Some of the cheaper ones have really poor contrast ratio which means a not very good picture

I think that it all boils down to what you want rather than what you need. At the bottom a cheap LCD TV from Tesco plus an inverter, at the top and Avtex or similar specially made TV.

Hope the above helps - I would be also interested to read of other people's experiences and recommendations as the above is purely from research and there ain't no substitute for the mk 1 eyeball ........

I'm glad you mentioned an inverter. I'll have to look into those. I'm not really sure what they are!

The subject of 12/240 volt TV has been discus before and as I recall the consensus was to go for a 240v tv and a small inverter. The reason was that most tv won't work on a voltage that floats between 12-14v so you will need a 12 volt stabiliser which is dearer than a small inverter. can't help with you other question, but welcome on board, soon.

Wobby

Hi Jenny

Welcome to MHF.

We have a 600w inverter which can more than run a mains-powered TV, and other appliances. There are many on the forum who are more expert in this field than I and I am sure someone will come along in a minute. I believe you should not run a highly rated inverter to run just a TV, as that is wasteful, or so I am told.

As for your cargo net, is it new? Either way, you should have/be able to obtain easily, the clips to hook it to, and simply screw them into the wood at a suitable point at each side. They are available at most accessory shops. The cargo net on mine screws into the floor of the bed, at the front.

Regards

Tim

Hi Jenny.
Welcome to MotorhomeFacts. It's an addictive site so be careful. Smile

We have a Boxer based mh but a couple of years newer than yours.

I've no way of knowing whether ours is the same as yours but here is a description. I hope it makes sense.
On ours there are 2 straps with fittings hanging from the roof. The clips on the mesh go into the fittings and the straps can be pulled to adjust and pull the mesh higher. The fittings are similar to ones found on luggage straps. Push in and quick release.
The bottom of the mesh isn't visibly screwed into anything as it is made to be pulled back onto a spring assisted roller inside a tubular fitting mounted just inside the bottom front lip of the above cab bed shelf.

Hope this helps

Ah that makes sense then - I suspect this isn't the original net...thanks!
