Wow! That's bad!

Have you told Fiat and registered a complaint
Have you told your Dealer?
Also-make sure you tell Swift on this Forum who are supposedly in "dialogue" with Fiat about this

Hi all I have a March 2008 Bessacar765P with the 160 engine, at the weekend I had to reverse up a hill about a 1 in 10 for about 300 metres as the road had been blocked and as it was a country lane there was no room to turn around. To avoid stalling I had to increase the revs and slip the clutch a bit as suggested by Fiat to pull away, within a short distance smoke started coming out from under the bonnet and I had to stop and let the clutch cool down twice before I could get to a place to turn around. I chose the bigger engine as this is a 7.6 metre van and did not want to be under powered. The van was lightly loaded with no fresh or grey water aboard. The clutch has lost some of its bite and when climbing steep hills the smell from the clutch is really bad. The van has only done 1500 miles. I had the previous 765 with the 2800 JTD from new and covered 40000 miles and did not have this problem. I have now cancelled a extended trip to Greece until this is sorted out as I have no confidence in the clutch lasting the trip

Sorry to hear of your situation. It is totally unaceptable. This has to be a case where the vehicle is unfit for purpose. Was there a safety implication, if so you should report it to VOSA. I have already complained to VOSA on this matter but they have rejected it however I would strongly suggest that you e mail Paul at VOSA , email address

In fact we should all do a mass email to VOSA. Somewhere I have the correct Word document for making a complaint so will post it when I get home.

Can I suggest that we all make a formal complaint such that they all end on his desk the same week.

Although not currently an x2/50 owner I would support John's suggestion

Hi I have spoken to my Dealer who suggested contacting my local Fiat Dealer who suggested that I pay for a new clutch to be fitted which I would have to pay for the clutch would then be return to Fiat for examination to decide if it would be covered under warranty. We all know where that will end up! but what happens the next time I have to reverse up a hill. I have con contacted Swift who are looking into it and to be fair to Swift they appear to be genuinely looking out for there Customers

Hi

Contrary to what some have been told, I asked one of the courier companies about his new fleet (upto 12 months old)of Fiats, some 2.2,2.3 and 3.0 some with 5 speed some 6 speed some on heavy chassis mixed MWB+LWB, so a good mix, amazingly his answer Rolling Eyes "all of them judder like F*** in reverse", it appears that it is across the range, he told me that weight seems to make little difference to the level of juddering experienced.

This may explain why Fiat are being evasive/dismissive in their responses

....and Swift has promised to come back to use with the results of their dialogue with Fiat (See the Thread "Swift Juddergate".............

Now -if swift threatened to pull the plug on Fiat and go elsewhere............

edit....just seen Kath's comment on the Swift Juddergate. Swift must give Fiat millions of pounds worth of business......and they are still waiting for a response from them Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes
What chance does the end user have? Shocked Shocked

As Fiat and Peugeot seem reluctant to get a grip of the judder problem (which in my opinion, is actually more serious than the water ingress issue) I feel we need to make a mass complaint to VOSA.

Please find a blank Word document which you can email direct to VOSA.
The contact is

You should provide as much information as possible and add if the incidents you have experienced could be construed as a Safety Issue.

The complaint may have a greater impact if we try to send them all at the same time .e.g. Sunday 11th May, that way it will be on his screen 1st thing Monday morning.

Telbel,

I was wondering that but did not wish to swamp the forum with yet another FIART/PEUGEOT moan or upset the moderators.

I will be sending in a second complaint to VOSA on the difficulties I have found including situations where I have become a hazard such as having to make a three point turn rather than attempting to reverse.

I am also going to write to the MD of Peugeot on the judder having already complained about the Water Ingress and that was solved at last.

The name and address I have is as follows. Can I suggest that Fiat owners do likewise to FIARTS MD. We need a mass effort.
