I know that there have been numerous forums on the topic but I'm still confused at the requirements for Type Approval for registering my used Motorhome to be imported from Germany next week. The Dethleffs Sunlight is not a New Means of Transport (NMT) as it is more than 6 months old and has done more than 6,000 K/Ms.
After having received and read the import pack from DVLA, the documents suggest that a Certificate of Conformity if available should suffice for Type approval.

, which states in section 2.5 The only pre-registration test is the annual MoT test. Motor caravans and ambulances are exempt from the Type Approval and Single Vehicle Approval.....A motor caravan, that has been used on roads outside Britain before being imported, is subject to annual MoT testing three years after the date of manufacture. As my van is 1 year old, the MOT will not be required. The next paragraph goes on to say British Construction and Use and Lighting Regulations require that vehicles incorporate a number of individual components that are marked to show they have been type-approved to British or European standards unless specifically exempt.. What is meant be the term 'marked' in this context?
Further to this after looking at the online version of Registering an imported vehicle at

, there is a section under the title of Registering a Previously used vehicle which reads Cars, motorcycles and light goods vehicles first registered in another European member state will need to have a certificate issued by VCA under the Mutual Recognition Scheme. It does not mention whether or not motorhomes are exempt from this certificate. Is this related to the 'marked' question above and has anyone with a used van recently had to produce this certificate and if so, how did you go about obtaining one?

Dan.

It seems that I needn't have worried. The DVLA only required the 2 registration/licence docs that the German dealer provided me with and also took the yellow form that accompanied the export German trade plates. Wasn't asked to provide CoC or evidence of inspection.
Cheers,
Dan.
