Hi Curlyman and welcome to the Motorhomefacts Community. You will be well served here by some very experienced people with a whole range of expertise.
It gets even better if you subscribe!
I had a towbar fitted to my last Motorhome by Towtal of Stoke. Onto the ball I clamped a simple bike rack from Towsure. To make this safe, a padlock was fitted. When the bikes were loaded, I used 'D' locks, attaching the first bike to the rack and the second bike to the first. When possible, I put the D locks through both wheels and frames. I also used bungees to stop the wheels turning. How successful was this method?
I wanna tell you a stoory: Having arrived home very tired from a very pleasant three week holiday in France, I left the MH on the drive, with the bikes in place. When I went to put the bikes away later, members of the local yobbery had already been at work!!
They thought they could have the bikes by simply removing the bungees. When they realised that the bikes were well locked, they nicked a bell top, pump and bike computer!!
But they never got the bikes!!
Enjoy your MH!

I was told a story recently of a motorhome on an Aire, where they had their bikes stolen whilst they were asleep. Although the bikes were locked to the rack, this did not deter the thieves. Apparently, they cut the rack, with the bikes, off the back of the van.
I don't know if this is apocryphal, but maybe indicates that if someone is that desperate to nick something, there is little you can do to stop them. Your best bet is to make it as difficult as possible.
