Hi Everyone.Only 10 days to go until i pick up my MH,i intend using the CL network of the Caravan Club. Can anyone recommend a sat nav that can find a location by using a grid reference example:- 202:SX696404 these are found on a lot of the CL listings in the site directory.I used to own a Mazda with built in navigation but that was Longitude and Latitude.I thought it might be useful, so i dont go sailing by a site entrance and then have to try and turn a 26ft MH around.I asked the same question on the GPS forum some very nice people replied, but it all got a bit technical. What i mean by Sat Nav is one of those things you stick to the windscreen and a nice lady tells you to turn right or left and then a hoody breaks in and nicks it,you know ,one of those.Any help will be appreciated.
Regards Rob.

Maybe you don't need a "SatNav" but a common or garden GPS.
For £100 or less you can get a walking GPS, eg Garmin ETREX. These are made for LatLong input. You won't get directions, just an arrow that points to your destination. Follow the arrow, as best you can by road. You get direction plus straight line distance, speed.
I used one like this long before SatNav became affordable. I know where I'm going, or use AutoRoute, the magic arrow just let me home in on the final destination.

I carnt help you with the grid ref but we use a Tom Tom 1 Europe and just use post codes and we normaly find CL's no problem. Some times it can be a 100 meters out but it normally gets us close enough.
Hi Rob, I have a Garmin Nuvi 310i and it will let you input your destination in, in lat'long and british national grid, I input you grid ref and it put me somewhere near salcombe!!

There are several downloads (on MHF as well) that contain all the CL's and CS's and can be used for directions to these sites without any bother - so choose a TomTom, Garmin or whatever then download the POI's and away you go
Some will let you add to them otherwise frequently check for updates

Don't know if this will help. Careful how you go using sat nav for campsites, can get you into a lot of trouble approaching sites from wrong direction, "been there done that" Don't personally know any sat nav's that handle map references, but that doesn't mean that there isn't one.
Safe journey Rob.
All the best.
Fred.
