I have a Hymer 660 with a 2 cycle rack on the rear, but need enough space for 6 bikes. I thought the easiest way to do this is to fit some roof bars. Are there any recommendations on what type of bars to use? There are no rails to fix onto, so will need to drill through roof and have enough clearance to avoid skylight.
Thanks

Hi
you could buy or used to be able to buy an extension to make it able to carry 4 bikes another option could be if you have a tow bar we bought a drop on rack(Bak Rack) that used to carry 3 bikes pretty costly way to go,hope this helps,i am pretty sure some of the MHF wizards will be along soon.

Hi roof bars are available and so are 4 bike rack carriers.

If you have a Fiamma bike rack you can add two extra bike rails and blockers to that.

Putting bikes on the MH roof is OK but you have to get them up and down!

Regards

If you are likely to have 6 large bikes each time you take at least 1 bike, I have to say I'd be tempted by the trailer solution.

If you can get 2 of the 6 that are small enough to store inside, such as a toddlers bike or folding adult bikes (Bromptons fold small - I have two inside a panel van), then go with a Pendle 4-bike rack or similar on a towbar.

I Don't know if you have a towbar but I would leave the bike rack at 2 bikes and get a smallish trailer fitted with roof bars for the other 4, I think Halfords do a trailer that you can fit car type roof bars to.

Then you also benifit with some extra load space.

sorry a bit slow with my typing there

Have you thought of carrying three bikes on the front and three at the back?
This would also be better distribution of weight.

As someone who has to carry 5 bikes when we take to the road I feel for you.

However given that you cannot carry any bikes inside easily I would go for the trailer route. The pendle bike rack shown above will be excellent. I have two of their towbar racks for the car and m/h and would recommend them to anyone.

. The last time I spoke to them you could get the trailer cheaper than the advertised price.
