Peugot Boxer oil filter

I have just purchased an oil filter for a 2007 Peugot Boxer 2.2hdi & it turns out to be a filter & "O" ring, not a self contained canister.
On looking under the engine next to the sump I can see a round plastic domed housing with a hex nut on the bottom, can someone confirm that this is the oil filter housing?
