Hi all, my first post here so here goes,
ive been offered a large box lorry (actually several) i think that it would be around a 14 ton truck?
what i was wondering is if i can convert it into a selfbuild,
ive seen several busses that are converted and they will all be as heavy as this truck?
ive got a few questions that need resolving before i jump at buying it;
1. first will i be able to still drive it on my car licence (will i need a class c hgv) or will i have to downrate to 7.5 ton
2. if its still within my licence range (up to 7.5 ton) what will i need to do to regester it as a motorhome?
3. any links to other truck/bus conversions
4. anything else you think i may need to know

Cheers Pete.

Hi there,

I 1995 we met a couple in West Cork (Ireland) who were returning from their four year round the world trip. They were from Wales.
Their MH was a self build conversion, on a WW2 Bedford truck. It was a magnificent home and they had great stories to tell about their travels.

I'm sorry that I cannot supply you with any tech details, or any details at all, but just thought that I would post this anyway, so that you know that others have done it.

Good luck
