My friends own a campsite in France and they are worried when a booking comes in from a "non family" couple as they have taken bookings before and find that about 8 arrive, demand a single pitch with loads of small tents and generally are bade news for the site.
However as this scenario is extremely unlikely I suggest (as others have/will do) that you phone the site and explain the situation.
Hope you have better luck in future.

Have you considered that the site owners are only trying to maintain the sort of standards that you yourself would hope to find there.
I sometimes wear a leather jacket, but I have never been refused entry into a pub that bans them - as I am clearly not a "biker" (of the kind that has been known to cause a lot of trouble.)
Give them a call. Say you are leaving the wives at home so you can do a bit of fishing (or whatever) and I'm sure you will be welcomed.

A couple of sumers ago, I went out on a ride with a dozen or so of the Bikers from the ambulance service, ( I was a boss type person so that shows you how desperate the situation was).
All of us rode for a living, anyway, one of them, a girlie type, was in full leathers and when we all wlaked into the pub, the landlord said that we couldnt go in as we were wearing leather, so the girlie says, Fair enough, and without a moments hesitation, took off the jacket . Underneath, I was shocked, and I admit , delighted, to see she was wearing a very....erm religeous undergarment,
( religeous undergarment= low and behold )
fortunately, the customers and landlords wife burst out laughing and she apologised for clumping all bikers together as potential problems. After that the pub was a great supporter of our favourite charity.
We did the Run to the Sun (Newquay for those Non VW folk) a few years back in the old T2 and stayed at a site in Newquay just near the zoo. Can't remember the name.
That was noisy but not too bad, as much as the official site would be, but the town itself was very intimidating.
Two weeks ago, I was told to remove my Hash logoed basedball cap as I enetered a local pub. I know Hashers can be a bit wild in their own company, but not singly.
Sod ringing up the site, if they don't want you, for whatever the reason, then don't give them your custom! Try a small CL/CS site in the area, they are usually more helpful and are quieter at night too.
We stayed on a site in Stratford upon Avon last year after we came home from a long tour of France & Spain. We used their washing machines to do our laundry, but their dryers only took 50p coins. The site office was closed for 2 days while the owners were away so we couldn't get any change. So we hung our washing out on a line outside our van like we had done when abroad, because the weather was warm and dry it was taken down in a couple of hours. Someone reported us to the owners on their return and we were visited and told off. I had intended to stay for the rest of the week but we just packed up and left.
Some UK site owners are so inflexible in their attitudes to people, you would think they were running the Hilton and not a campsite.
Divine retribution followed though as the site was flooded out 2 days later in the rain!
You could tell them you are gay. If they refuse you access on the grounds of sexual orientation they are committing an offence under new legislation...personally, I would tell them to poke it and find a more welcoming site to spend my money.
