Just emptying some of the stuff from the Hymer ready for handover next week. My do we carry a load of items that are there....just in case Rolling Eyes

Well as I was doing it I thought........

ARE WE DOING THE RIGHT THING?

Well to be honest this is sad goodbye from us as we love our Hymer. It is a brilliant Van and Layout. But we decided to go for a fixed bed.

The above is the reason for second thoughts, nothing to do with changing from a Hymer to a Swift.

This got me thinking along these lines.

Who has pulled out at the last minute on a deal and why?

I have put a poll on to try to capture the results.

Steve

I always have second thoughts Steve, and worry for weeks after committing to a big spend - just like the emoticons suggest. Confused Very Happy Sad Very Happy Sad Very Happy Sad Very Happy Sad Very Happy Confused

Doesn't stop me though - but I do have Mrs Zeb to offer encouragement, and big spending has never been a problem for her! Rolling Eyes Very Happy

Cheers

Greetings,

Yes Steve, we had second thoughts when after laying a deposit down on a Dethleffs Advantage in 2006 only to find that the information that the salesman told us at the Show was incorrect when we went down to take a second look at the 'van.

We were told it had a double floor as well as the rear locker for storage, however it only had the rear locker for storage and was obviously unsuitable for our needs, it was also only a five berth when we were told it was a six berth.

We asked the dealer if he could get all our gear from the Elddis into the Dethleffs and he could not so fortunately they returned our deposit, although they did try hard to find an alternative 'van for us.

I always worry about any thing and buying a motorhome with its associated costs make me worry even more! Smile

Dave

I know that feeling exactly....I always think it is something to do with knowing how much work and time went in to acquiring the readies. So when I part with them I want a good deal and always wonder if I have done the right thing.

However, once a deal is done and I still like to shake hands then that is it and I stick with the deal. Classic..'my word is my bond'. However, like H-T's Dethleffs deal if the other party misled me I would have no hesitation in walking.

I sometimes think my missus thinks credit card spending is free.... Laughing Laughing

I always have second thoughts. We ordred our first van from the NEC show which was a Swift 590RS, but at the time Swifts names was very poor on here so we then went to Brownhills and changed the order to some thibg compleatly diffrent. But we will never know how good or bad the Swift would have been.

Now we are thinking of changing again and we have looked at Swifts, but its the Fiat bit that is putting me off at the moment.

Might wait untill next year to see what happens.

I hope you enjoy your new van as much as the old Hymer
