Not as simple as that Dave. Facts can be challenged in a libel suit, and if you can't prove them you lose, even if they are true.

Of course, everyone is at liberty to say how they FEEL about something.

Hi

Whats a fact though Dave and who is to say the proof is factual. If the Church had their way we would still think of the world as flat and we would not know who Columbus was Very Happy even though he was only saying what most of the rest of the world already knew.

Personally I think I can prove the world is not round anyway as it always seems to be an uphill journey Laughing Laughing

Nuke.

I need more than that from you. What are you saying ?

If I can't voice an opinion then goodbye.

You make no sense in MY OPINION.

Is that a fact Laughing

Mike

P.S. Nuke may be a bit short on explanation but IMHO what he is saying is : Do not make any libellous posts. Mind you deciding what is libellous and what is not is a task for the lawyers ..... but we would not want to see any members involved in a court case charged with libel would we?. Remember that anything you post here is yours...nobody else will carry the can.

IMHO Nuke is just covering his own back by publicly warning us all not to cross that line . Wink I for one do not blame him for that.... his warning makes good sense to me. ( and I am guessing that it makes good sense to him and maybe his lawyer too)

Maybe Nuke should have paid the lawyer to write his post ...then it may have been a bit clearer to us all what he meant by it Rolling Eyes

Mike

billym:- I am sure you know the difference between publishing a FACT and publishing your opinion.
We are all entitled to our opinions but are equally responsible for those opinions. It is important when replying to posts seeking information that we all quantify our replies in some way in order that the reader can judge the accuracy of the reply.
I was going to give an example but realised that if I gave some opinion which was wrong in law, and if this opinion was taken out of context, I could be liable. So you will have to work this out for yourself.

Confused from Kent here, can't afford to be sued so do I need a disclaimer on all my posts?
