The right to freedom of speech is important on here and is the main reason why I remain as a member,if I wasn't allowed to have my say then I would be somewhere else.
However that right must be balanced and any company or individual that thinks they have been libeled, insulted,or been the subject of defamatory comments surely has the right of reply. All they have to do is join the forum and state their case, then we all can make our own minds up after considering the response.
If things get a bit heated then we,unlike some forums have the mods to intervene. The companies that are on here are to be applauded for having the courage to step into the firing line and participate in the debate, generally their trading reputation has been enhanced and I have the utmost respect for them.
Those that don't join in have their reasons and personally I am usually a bit suspicious of them-why don't they respond to the criticism?Have they got something to hide? These are the type of companies that usually start threatening legal action to attempt to keep us quiet, please don't let this happen.

It would be well worth remembering that in many instances a company has greater protection under the law & nearly always greater impetus to use litigation as a means of resolution. A good example of that would be the quite real possibility that several threads on MHF could well have cost Brownhills lost revenue, there was not alot of actual facts until very recently.
We live in an age where increasingly the individual doesn't seem to have a sense of responsibility for their actions or an awareness of the ramifications of those actions. I appreciate the right to free speech, & yes companies can join MHF or other forums to answer these concerns - however that is not a defence in law. Nuke & other Mods should have the right to release details of posts (& those that make them) that worry them if people cannot put their real name & details to a post then perhaps the Mod's should? - possibly the 'offended' parties should actively be invited to post replies?

The latest onslaught on Brownhills has once again brought the worst out of many posters and is the reason I shan't be renewing my sub or coming back here. As I've posted elsewhere on this forum there are a lot of contributors who cannot tell the difference between informed comment and idle speculation/libel and obviously have nothing better to do with their time and need to "get a life".

When some threads are allowed to develop into hundreds of posts vehemently critisising one or more companies what do you expect?
Isn't it time, and prudent, that 'those in charge' took on some responsibility for some of these vicious postings and suggest the posters sort things out with the suppliers and not on a public forum.
I have no axe to grind I just feel sorry for people who can't resolve simple problems in a civilised way.
