Hi all

I want to register a domain name and in the future (all though not yet) I will need some hosting space too.

Can any of you internet teckkies recommend really good and reliable company to do this with?

I don't want to buy the full package just yet but I want it to be an option without having to transfer the domain name elsewhere to do this in the future.

Any advice welcome.

Ta

EDIT - I did a google search and was a little overwhelmed with the options so decided to ask those in the know Laughing

It does not do what it says on the tin, it's not free, but not far off.

Has worked for me for many years.

When you do register a domain name, may I suggest that you also register similar sounding names.

i.e

and don't forget the .coms.

I am currently going through a "mediation" period with nominet over a competitor who has registered a similar name as mine.

This is called this "cyber-squatting", personally, its closer to Identy Theft!

I can tell you, it is not fun.

Good Luck

have been with them for years. £8.50 to register the domain name for two years and £20 for hosting per year. Gives you so many email addresses I have lost count. Very good support in UK with no waiting on phone. Full Frontpage support.

for domain names - £6 per year for full DNS managagement and a .co.uk domain

Also I use eukhost.co.uk and host 11 websites on a "copper" package (19.50py total) - which includes full cpanel, sql etc etc. Not only that, when they had a router failure, I contacted them instantly on their webchat; and also 20m response on email. I don't get that quick response with my £x,000 business package at work!

who I've found to be very helpful with support.

I still use dialup to upload any changes - cheap at weekends, and I've just registered motorhomeandaway.com with them so I can use that as an alternative. I think it was under £20 for two years.
