If you have an 85cm dish you should be able to get something. Try starting with Astra 1 or Hotbird. If you can get Astra 1 (set this as default), then choose a channel from Astra 2 suggest SKY news channel 1021. The digibox should then calculate correct position. As you move south you will need to manually adjust the skew of the LNB by a few degrees. We were receiving good signal as far as Seville this year.

Good luck!

We had a similar problem in southern Portugal and Spain with our Oyster.

After a quick phone cal to the UK this is what I was told (and it worked - for me).

Adjust the LNB to the 8 o'clock position (i.e the cable from the LNB should be positioned at 8 Cool
Try to lock onto Astra 1.
If that doesn't work, try Hispasat.
Then tune into one of the 1000 channels.
We found that ITV Anglia worked best and BBC Scotland or Northen Ireland. You may have to try other stations to get the best results.

Good luck (and pls report back).

If you have the 85cm dish you should get some channels. Also you may need to switch the Default Transponder to Southern beam. Is your oyster self seeking ? I am near Marbella and can get all channels except Channel 4 and some of the + 1 hour channels not ideal, but I would need at least a 1.3m dish to get all channels here. Though I could get all Channels just South of Barcelona.
Pete.
I am assuming here that you are using a sky box.,

Hi

Question - and apologies for hijacking the thread.

I have an 85cm Oyster self seeking thing. Inside the van I have a 12c Pace SKY digibox. I can get the dish to lock on to Hotbird, ASTRA1 etc, but, no channels. Would I need a separate receiver?

Regards

R

R,
You may well be outside the Astra2 foot print, in which case your sky box is useless. You need to get a standard receiver which will allow you to decode the channels from the satellites you mentioned. They are cheap enough to buy. I paid £20. for one in Germany last year.
Pete.

No, not at all, if you have transponder and freq etc of the satellites, freely available on places like lyngsat.co.uk, then you can enter these in the skybox and search for channels broadcasted from that particular satellite. You could then store them for future use.

Or you could by a multi-sat reciever Very Happy

Incedently, the Oyster Vision II does have disecq programming ability. Which in a nutshell means you can programme the unit to search for upto 4 satellites directly from the reciever.

For Example select ZDF from Astra1, the dish would go and search automatically.

However, if you fail to get the programming right the unit may have to go back for reconfiguration. Rolling Eyes

Shut down the entire system, power off the skybox completely. Wait 5 minutes.

Turn TV on

Turn Skybox On

Turn Oyster On

Make sure LNB has been tweeked to between 7 and 8 o'clock, using LNB cable as the clock hand!

If the Oyster does not find Astar 2 automatically then select astra 1. Once you have astra 1 then go back and try for astra 2 again.

Once you have Astra 2 you will need to change the transponder settings within the skybox:

On the remote, press:

Services

select option 4

press 0 1 then select on the remote. This will take you to the installer menu.

go to transponder settings option 2.

change this to 12.207 and save new settings.

this setting should bring in some channels, if not try 12.051.

Hope this helps

If your sky reciever has not locked on its because it is reading the north beam , go into services >4>6 then quickly 0-1 enter s
