My laptop is now 2 years old and I rarely used it on battery only. I then read in some of the blurb that I should run on battery and/or take the battery off when on mains. Discussions with OH then tells me -yes the batteries memory has been lost. I do run my camcorder batteries right down before recharging and they have lasted well. What length do members get out of their batteries? I'm thinking of buying a new laptop for the motorhome but smaller and lighter than mine.(withXP though) Ebuyer.com have been recommended.

batteries on laptops, how long do they last is the same as how long a piece of string. It depends on what you are doing on the laptop.Mine used to last for up to 2 1/2 hours it is now down to just 1/2 hour, with minimum usage.but it is now 6 years old. Will get a new battery at end of month, but they are not cheap.considering the price of a new laptop.

Yes thats my sentiments, it would be nice to be able to buy a spare one with a laptop. I have got a converter in the van but when going nearer to wifi source which is sometimes necessary to get good signal-a battery would be good.
