Because they have just shafted my sister good and proper, allegedly!
She had rented a van from them to use in 2 weeks when we were all going together to the Isle of Wight. Specifically she needed a garage and a fixed double at the back and pull down at the front because my mum is travelling with her, is disabled, needs a mobility scooter, can't be messing around with a bed but wants some comfort and snores like a trooper (hence my sis wanting to be far away at the front!).
So on Friday she gets a call allegedly to say they can't provide the van - no idea why? I had told my sis about the buy-out the day before (having read on here what was going on) and advised her to ring them, but they rang her first. Considering the van rental is with Hymer Rent - of which Brownhills are simply an agent I think - I don't understand why they can't supply either, unless Hymer Rent have rescinded the agreement?
Anyway, my sis has had to go quickly to somewhere else, pay more and get a 524 with bunks and no garage, in desperation. It's not as if there are many Hymers to that spec for rent anyway, never mind with 2 weeks notice!
And Brownhills have refunded a cheque rather than a credit card refund - so sis will have to fart about moving money around as well.
She's furious, I'm furious, and the **** is going to fly in court or wherever, I can tell you!

I've no axe to grind for or against Brownhills, but it might be both fair and courteous to find out why they had to cancel the agreement before loading with grapeshot!!
Who knows - their only available van with that specification might have been crashed a couple of days ago. Anything could have happened.
Just my opinion of course, but they may be entirely blameless, and may well have phoned your sister at the earliest opportunity.

You might want to edit your post with a couple of"alledgedly's" 'cos alledgedly we have to put them in when posting about a companies (alledged) poor service ,alledgedly. The phrase leopards and spots popped into my head then for some reason!

And which part would you think should have an allegedly in front of it then? Because this has all just actually happened - the only unknown is precisely why they have gone backword on a rental agreement. I'm not stating anything but the facts. I've not speculated about anything - other than guessing that Hymer Rent have told them where to stuff their agency deal, allegedly.
Now I wonder which other suppliers are going to behave the same and what the true picture of their finances are? I can ponder can't I?

I'm sorry if I snapped! Did I mention that I'm furious? I know you were trying to help.
Apology accepted - and thanks. Pity more people don't have the guts to say sorry occasionally.
If I can offer another suggestion . . . . were I you I would attack the single malt bottle this evening for a start.
Then in the morning when you are still feeling all mellow and at peace with the world, phone Brownhills and with the utmost courtesy ask to be put through to someone who can give you a proper explanation.
Stay calm and courteous if/while you get shunted around a bit, and be sure that you give them plenty of time to find the right person and put you through.
If all goes smoothly and you get a reasonable explanation, then that's a start. It's up to you whether you pursue it any further.
If you do get the run-around, be quite sure you have been as fair and reasonable as you possibly can. After that it may then be time to go for the throat.
I think it's always wise in a difficult situation to show your teeth, but only in a beaming smile at first. The smile can easily become a snarl later if it becomes really necessary.
