Hi Roy

The footprint will be exactly the same as the Astra2D narrow beam - no change from the BBC1/2/3/4 footprint as it is now..

information for my Sky setup and really good it is. I hadn't realised that he'd done Freesat as well.

Thanks to both of you (do you ever go to bed?)

P.S. Ken - I got my silver screens from Jan & Ken. Thanks for pushing them in my direction.

I have just purchased a Ci GTL Living with a Maxview semi automatic roof mounted dish and have not had any problems using a Panasonic Sky receiver with our home registered card to view all the Sky etc channels.
I was going to buy a Maxview DVB for our proposed trip to Germany/France in June to get the european channels too. Would it be more cost effective, advantageous or possible for me to get a Freesat box instead. I know that I can reprogramme the Sky box as well but I believe this is a hassle to sort out.

This depends on what you want to view. If you still want british channels then stick with the Sky box. If you want to receive everything available then buy a receiver from Maplins.

Roy - It's that floppy hat with the rear fly-swat attachment that gets you all the intention. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Mike - Thanks for the website. He seems right up to date and talks in a language even we luddites can understand. Shall peruse it with interest later on. Very Happy

Cheers

These are standard bbc/Itv channels which are free to air on any sat receiver inc a sky tv box, whats the mystery . HD tv is a good move for large tv sets .and you get an Interactive/epg. but any receiver gives you an epg- now and next. why waste your money .

Feeling a bit dumb on this subject, anyway. I don't understand how to detemine if I can get Astra 2. I have a inexpensive receiver its' a DVB SL 35. The manual says it's pre-programmed for Astra 1 at 19 deg and 28 deg. Even though it's not set to 28 deg I do get a good signal there on some stations. I don't know how to set it to receive Astra 2.

What does DiSEqC mean exactly, I think it's some sort of switching system, our parabola has 2 LNBs.

Is there a reference site where I might learn the basics.

. It takes some reading, but it is absolutely brilliant for satellite info.
