Back in my rallying days as co pilot I remember there was a way of folding an Ordenance Survey map to the size of an A4 sheet of paper.
No matter which part was being viewed, when you came to the edge you just turned to the next part and still ended up with an A4 size map.
Like most things 30 years ago I cannot remember how to do the folding.
Can anyone else remember.
I don't want to cut up the maps just do the folding, tried web search but nothing so far.
Taa,
Martin.

Martin,
Trying to write down how to fold a map is far harder than actually doing it, but I'll tell you what I do with maps that I take flying, I photcopy them in A4 sections and then laminate which also has the benefit of only needing to hold one small piece of relevent map at a time.
HTH
John

I am also getting a bit long in the tooth but try:

Fold in half horizontally good crease

Fold in half vertically good crease

Fold edge of map to centre fold light crease

Fold new edge to centre opposite way to fold good crease

Continue folds in quarters to give a zigzag good creases

and if you can understand that lot you are a better man than I - bungitin or Gundadin if you prefer

Look at your concertina blinds in the van and put the folds in the map in the same directions. Start, as above instructions, with folding the map in two lengthways and work from there.

I used to do much the same during my rallying days.

What I do remember is having to sellotape the back of the folds - hope that helps.
