Every time I saw one on the road, from about the age of 10, I'd get a yearning to have one.

When my good friends became self unemployed and decided to buy one and invited me to join them on this little adventure, how could I refuse. Within about three weeks of that conversation, I owned my very own MH, knowing absolutely nothing about them. (Looking back, yes, I did rush into it, but no regrets. I'd probably take a little more time over my purchase next time though) We toured the SW over the school holidays that summer and haven't looked back.
I can't imagine not owning one now (I think the house would go first!)

More and more young families I know are getting in to MHing. Believe it or not, its quite a hot topic at Mums and Tots!!!

Hi,

we had been happy tent campers for years. Then in 2000 our complete camping gear, together with some other stuff, was stolen out of our car. In the years after that we hired motorhomes on several occasions, mostly for shorter trips.

Then, in summer 2002, we did a four weeks round trip through Scandinavia in a hired motorhome. At the end of this trip we had tears in our eyes when returning the van to the dealer. So, two months later, we were back and bought her.

Happily addicted to motorhoming ever since.

Best Regards,
Gerhard

Tented for years and after a wet weekend in the Trossachs in 99, we ditched the tent on the Hash event (850 of us) site by arrangement with the manager. Wife claimed the old frame tent leaked, well it did a tiny bit, but we still needed camping. We borrowed a rust bucket of a T2 VW to go to IOW for a Hash event and were sold. Got our own in 2001 and now we have the Caravelle.

Always camped before the kids, then had a folding camper for a while.....I used to sell hand made western leather work at all the western festivals, It basically paid for my hobby......the wife thought I was daft (still does) but had no interest herself.
It became awkward taking all the stuff, stall and towing a camper, so I bought an old traffic van and put basic facilities in it, leaving room to stow the stock. Shocked
One day after the wife had repeated that she had no interest in the hobby, I asked "how do you know if you've never tried it" Rolling Eyes ...................
she's been coming with me for 6 years now............We had to upgrade the van to one that we could at least stand up in.................don't do the stall anymore, but still go to the festivals Laughing

After leaving university, my girlfriend and I travelled the world (generously funded by my parents, for which I'm eternally grateful), during which we spent two weeks in New Zealand in a hired campervan (a high top Mazda Bongo). Fabulous fun and we really enjoyed the complete freedom (travelled out of season, zero plans beyond the next 6 hours).

Roll forwards 4 years and my girlfriend was now my wife. We hired another motorhome for two weeks over millenium new year. Spent two weeks popping in to see friends, and spent the millenium night wild camped over a bay on the South Coast, enjoying the fireworks.

Roll forwards another 6 years and we now have 2 kids and decided to make the most of our maternity leave by hiring another motorhome. This time for a 4 week tour of Europe. Possibly the best time we've ever had. Really depressing to come home and go back to work.

Roll forwards another two years, and after talking about it for a long time, we now have space to park a motorhome of our own, decided we didn't really want to replace the (40 year old) bathroom and kitchen anyway, so bought our own motorhome - planning on a 5 week tour of Europe this summer.

Something Rich had fancied for a long time. Being self employed and no one to cover if we took one or two week breaks long week ends seemed to be the answer. Then Rich's mum passed away and left us some money. We decided now's the time to buy one and spent 3mths looking till we found exactly the right one for us. So when we eventually retire we can go fulltiming.

Hi,
Last year we were in our tent and we watched with envy as the Adria Twin came and went. Eventally I walked over to the owners and asked if we could have a look. They were very sweet and raved about their new van and of it's advantages. As my OH is disabled, but mobile, it seemed the perfect solution for our days out in the cramped car and ideal for our small adventures.
We didn't look at anything else and rather stupidly went out and bought a brand new twin, 4 weeks later Surprised
We have since looked and researched as we should of done then and when we do look, we weigh it up it's £ for £ and the extra space we would like. However, we find we really don't want a coachbuilt as I would worry about the overhang and wouldn't use it for the trips to Ikea and B & Q and really don't want to drive or park anything any bigger anyway, and we so still come back again to the twin. Rolling Eyes I guess we have been very foolish and very, very lucky?
We have done 4,500 miles since September and we're off to France with the dogs on the 18th of this month.
Sell the Twin....mmmmm not yet.

Seeds were planted in '95, but we started small with a two man tent, whilst dreaming of the day. Had a frame tent, caravan, then in 2001 our first motorhome, an Autocruise Valentine. Terrific little van that allowed me to escape off-si
